Just got done watching the final location test vids of Brad. It looks promising so far. I'm still holding out for some changes to the clinching but nothing new about it has been said or shown to date....

Looks like Brad's Slip Left P (Smash Hook) has a low K follow up. It kinda looks like it might have the same properties as K+G from Sway Back.

If this is regarding the Jean vs Brad clip; I think it looks like a high elbow (0:44) to me, while we see the true Smash Hook at 2:11.

My guess is that the former is the new slipping /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif which would replace the mid hitting "Waving Body" and the following low kick at 0:45 was the canned /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif follow-up that also has a mid hitting /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif alternative. That's if the info we got earlier is credible.

EDIT: Well, I read the translation again (I really need to get some sleep…) and it’s actually /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif that’s described as the mid hitting uppercut, not slipping /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif. So I feel safe in standing by my initial theory of slipping /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif being replaced with what I believe was a high elbow attack seen in the Jean vs Brad clip at 0:44. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif

Here's what we know from the footage we have so far:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAb_N4GmSZM

0:45 - Brad's Waving Body looks like it's a high now. His SL/SR /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is shown for the first time. It comes out pretty quickly. It doesn't knock down on counter hit.

0:49 - Brad's new Mach Punch move is shown. It looks like it causes the flop from his LD/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif only they fall down much more quickly. I think that it's techable. You might be able to dash up and land something if they don't recover. If Brad still has his /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, then I can't imagine what role this move is meant to fill.

1:06 - His /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif now strings together more quickly.

1:09 - /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif still knocks down for a combo. Thank God. Combo damage was 54.

1:14 - You can see the nerfed low punch range.

1:21 - The light down attack misses after /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif! I don't know if the player tried it with the fastest timing. The throw still did 30 damage.

1:48 - His /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif causes the Tekken bound effect. I wonder if you can do LD/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif combos after this. Probably not, that would be too damaging. LOL.

1:59 - When in the neutral position for a little while, Brad does a pose.

2:07 - Brad's new /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, I think. It ducks Brad low, looks like it has medium range, and doesn't knock down on counter hit.

2:09 - The animation for his /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif has changed. It's still half-circular I assume. It looks the same as Jean's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gCNDRz99SU

1:12 - Brad's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif now causes a stun on CH. A stagger icon didn't appear, so it looks unbreakable. I don't know if this is better than the launch on CH that he used to get or not. The follow up Ducking/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif launched from the stun.

1:13 - /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, formerly entered as /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, looks like it strings together more quickly now.

It's too early to tell how improved or worse Brad has become, but what he's gained looks alright so far.

And Myke, better late than never: Thank you for providing a translation of the BBX site.

Nice post. Kinda sucks that his SL/SR /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif looks to be high now. I guess no more Cobra Weave XD
From the vids, all the characters I've seen so far have idle animations.

"1:12 - Brad's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif now causes a stun on CH. A stagger icon didn't appear, so it looks unbreakable. Hopefully this only happens with Taka. Instead of being launched, Taka gets stunned or staggered. Apparently, the attacks that follow the launcher knock him down. I'm not sure if he can't be launched at all though.
It's hard to tell just how much the hit properties of Brad's moves have changed judging from a Brad vs Taka vid.

I'm looking forward to seeing what combos can be done from Brad's new Mach punch but I'm also curious about /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif's new role.

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif knocking down like that sounds sick. That move always hits in 5. Being able to get free damage and Oki options off of it now sounds nice.

I'm not completely sure but I think that the knockdown effect that leads to other combos only happens once the opponent is airborne.
If this is correct and that new Tekken-like flop is a replacement for certain bounces (like Akira's 43P) then that means that, in essence, Brad has new way to keep certain combos going with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif
Too early to tell just yet but it looks like that move is sorta doing what I wished it did in VF5, bounce /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Some observations regarding the use of the Mach Punch /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif compared to /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif:

You can do it easily after a forward dash (/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif) which is helpful for whiff punishment when you want to quickly shorten the range. The /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif after a forward dash gets you /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, so to close the gap you need to crouch dash instead.

You can no longer do /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif after a back dash (/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif) since this obviously results in the mach punch /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif. This further makes /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif less useful as a whiff punisher with any kind of forward or backward standing dash.

The Mach Punch, while it causes a slam, seems to have a greater blow back effect. While I haven't seen any footage yet, I'm guessing that against a wall it will cause that sit-down stumble allowing you to combo. The /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif would never do that against a wall, and would always slam.

It may turn out that the Mach Punch will get more use in general play (whiff punishment) where the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif will remain as the primary -14f guaranteed attack/combo starter. Time will tell I guess.

Just a final note on air slams (e.g. Brad's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif against an airborne opponent): looks like a general system change is that all air slams produce a slam effect instead of the old bounce (re-float) in original VF5.

At 0:47, Sarah produces the old VF5 bounce effect. Either some moves cause the bound effect from Tekken 6 while others bounce, or the bound effect occurs in air combos while the bounce occurs in wall combos.

Here is some more info from the latest clips:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zww4iDIUNqc

1:05 - Is this the move that replaced his Waving Body again? It doesn't look like it lead into a stance. Maybe you'll have the option to do so with a manual input, or maybe not. Should it even matter with his new /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif derivatives?

1:11 - Brad's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif now causes the opponent to fall on their ass against a wall. Could anything be free afterwards? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shocked.gif

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFz5WdHR-fA

0:31 - This looks like Brad's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif reanimated. Could it possibly have less range?

0:59 - Brad's new /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif in action. It connected on counterhit so I have no idea if it's a NC like /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-soUib9U9U

Brad gets totally raped by the Shun player (Well shit, it's Kissa!), but we do get to see:

0:30 - His new standalone jumping double knee. It probably has the same animation as the knees from /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif. We see /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif Double Knee working against Shun on counter hit from the open foot position for 72 damage. I look forward to seeing how this new combo ender will be utilized.

1:20 - Did /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif launch Shun on mC? Maybe it was because of the animation Shun was in. Or maybe it had that effect before. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif

1:59 - I guess that this is his new /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif. Since it hit the opponent when the opponent was knocked down, we don't get to see what it does on normal hit/counter hit. It looked linear. Is this the same technique as Sway Back /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif?

I still can't say for certainty whether VF5R Brad is an improvement. I'd say that he's worse as far as punishment is concerned, what with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif looking nerfed (range and combos afterwards). His new /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif doesn't look like it will make up for it. In fact, it looks like shit right now.

Just some commentary on stuff not seen before (to my knowledge)

00:37 - Jumping elbow from Ducking, beats the low punch for a combo.

00:46 - After the side throw, Brad does a hunting middle on Eileen's side which is guarded. Brad then dashes in for another side throw, so it looks like the side guard has a sticky effect. Probably only resets when the guarder performs some action. I think I like it!

01:09 - at the end of the combo from the 1P+G wall throw we see Brad's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif high spin kick, culminating in a brutal 94pts!

02:50 - a new and awesome looking throw. At first glance it looked like a low throw, but it's a little hard to tell.

Overall, I really dig this match. Just full of awesome for Brad players out there!

    Couldn't agree more, I'm megahyped /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
I'm not 100% sure but I think that Eileen might have been ducking and then stood up right before the throw. Kinda hard to believe that Brad has a lowthrow /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif
His new P+K from Ducking is nothing but win! Even if it doesn't go under high attacks like his old one, it's still a killer upgrade. One of the reasons that I started playing with Lau is because of his 2P killers and now Brad has a legit one. Crossing my fingers that it doesn't whiff against other low attacks like Lau's 9P.

If the K after 3P is full circular (or at least the half circular that it was in Version B) then I'll be happier than a fag with a bag of dicks /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

I'm beginning to think it's a high wall throw with the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif command. The startup animation looks very similar, which is a common trait for many throws to have wall variants.

As tony mentions, while Eileen starts off crouching, she's definitely starting to stand as Brad closes in, so the throw is more likely to be high.

My money is on a high wall throw too. I'm happy with it. I think everyone has one now except Lion, at least I haven't seen him perform one yet.

The more I see of Brad in R the happier I am. AM2 didn't revamp him like they did in 4 FT, nor did they expand him as much as they did in 5 but they've certainly filled him out from what I've seen so far. Sway back /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif and ducking /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif are all going to be very effective in the right hands and I'm really digging the additional low kicks (both standing and crouching).

With the replacement/removal of some effective yet very situational moves like ducking /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif and the sway back /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif string respectively I feel Brad has been further refined in R to be far more formidable.

Also, beyond the mechanics of new moves and properties, I'm pleased with how well AM2 have reanimated a lot of his old techniques to fit seamlessly with his new ones. I've always been critical of Brad's look more than any other character because I study his style, so when AM2 get it right it's doubly enjoyable for me. I just hope they sort out his clinching... It's a gradual process I guess.
