Virtua Fighter 4 evo or Virtua Fighter 5 practice?

Hey guys, I am new to the forum.

I used to play vf4 religiously and was kind of turned off by vf5 not having online play ...

Fortunately I have gotten back into VF, no other fighter seems to jive with me ... pulled out my good old virtua stick high grade, and I have found I am REALLY rusty ...

So, my question is, VF5's practice mode does not seem quite as well developed as that of VF4 evolution, so would you guys think it is a good idea to practice vf4 evo prior to jumping back into vf5 on a competative level? or do you guys think the vf5 ps3 practice mode is sufficient enough? Thanks in advance for any help =D.

Getting instantly back on a "competitive level" is problematic, if not impossible.

If you already understand the basics of defense - that you may or may not have learnt with Evo's training mode -, then it's really only about practicing the execution of it. VF5's dojo mode is the better choice there then, for the timing is quite different in VF5.

If, however, you haven't really immersed in the basics of defense yet - like Fuzzy Guarding, ETEGing, and so on - it's a good start to see what it's all about in Evo's training mode. For being able to pull that off then, though, you got to do the switch to practicing all of that in VF5 eventually sooner or later.

Thanks for the response, I am definitely starting back up with vf4:evo and then just playing casual matches on the side in vf5 so as too take note of some of the differences. Hopefully I can make the full blown transition over to 5 within a couple months.
