Just a rumor but supposedly MS is in talks to bring VF5 to Xbox2/Xenon/X360...maybe even as a launch title.

Interesting rumor since MS seems to be bringing in a lot of Japanese talent. I don't believe and american launch can happen, but maybe the Japanese launch. Just an idea thanks for reading.

most interesting.. thx for the heads up.

they took steps with cvs2 and ggxx#r. yeah, both lag like hell, and are sub par at best.

but MS has a pattern. they are almost never first to market. and when they do, they generally fall flat on their face. but when they try again, they usually do a damn good job.

and since vf5 is a brand new game, they can design the game with online capabilities in mind. unlike cvs2 and #r, which basically just slapped on networking code. I'm betting that both xbox2 and ps3 will have vf5 online. but MS has online infrastructure here in the us.

    Source for rumor?

So VF5 is gonnna be released on Xenon without giving the game (Which isnt even out in Arcade form) time to swell and grow fat from the Japanese arcade scene? Sounds like a Bogus rumor.

Even if it were true, a home conversion would still be a few years away. I doubt Sega would do what Namco did with T5 and release a home version a few months after the arcade debut. So even if this rumor turns out to be true, it would still be a long long time away.........

VF5 is not coming out anytime soon anyways....

    Source of rumor was:

OXM magazine... I dont think its real, but interesting.

If it was too happen I would say that this is how it should go:

Sega announces VF5 at E3 MS exclusive for japanese launch which should be the same date as the japanese PS3 launch. Just an idea

Why would they release it for Xbox2 and not PS3 in Japan of all places? That doesn't make sense to me.

    The more consoles the better.

Here's some true news, somewhat relevant.

    http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=st...transactions_dc

If VF5 online is on Xbox2 (which I think is probable), then you are going to have to pay for customization items. You want Sarah's black wings? That'll cost you moola. Real life cash, .i.e.. Yeah, that's MS for you.

So VF5, a Japanese game with its strongest market in Japan, is going to be a release title on Xbox2. That would mean that it would release in the US before it released in Japan, as does the Xbox and all of its games. I very seriously doubt that will happen.

I can already see the anger on the faces of the die hard Japanese gamer when they realize that Americans are playing what will then be the best fighter on the market while he has to wait another 5 or 6 months. When he remembers that most Americans aren't even that good by Japanese standards and don't even support the arcade scene, his anger would probably get that much more intense.

Thank you very much. That is putting it in exact terms in the U.S. With the exception of the few VF'ers that play, there really aren't that many people that are as enthusiastic about VF as the Japanese. IMO X-box should stick to its football and halo games instead of trying to incorporate a game that most Americans have no idea about and that most Americans can't play for sh#t. I dont want to sound crude or anything towards people in the U.S., but this really is the sad truth and it would be a shame to waste such a masterful fighting game on X-box when in fact it should be distributed by none-other than Sony and the arcades. Also, if VF5 does go to X-box, that would mean that you would have to pay extra money for certain things as was mentioned in this thread. If in fact VF5 would be online, I personally do not want it to be on X-box live since you have to pay money while on PS it's free. I admit that I love to play VF and I would hate to see it fall into the hands of some idiotic corpers that dont know sh#t about VF and think that they can make a profit out of it in the wrong way.

Hmm, interesting. Sega AM2 have recently used the Chihiro board for their arcade games, which is in fact Xbox hardware, hence why Outrun 2 was an Xbox exclusive on consoles.

So there might be be some truth to this.

Which is also why Xbox Live is great while Sony's suck. Plus, Sony's online service demands that game companies supply their own servers, while with Microsoft they only have to add live support to their game and they're done. This is why some games (Street Fighter: Anniversary Collection, Guilty Gear) are online on Xbox but NOT on PS2.

Hey if you want to waste money on that crap go right ahead. But pretty soon you will get tired and pissed off at paying those prices. I play online with ps2 and I think it's pretty good. And I like the fact that the servers are managed by the companies themselves. In fact it is better that way because if say for example the server goes down on one game I can just go to another, but if on X-box something happens then you are screwed. I personally dont care much about the X-box controller either. If say I am at my friends house and he has VF, but no stick, how the hell can you play VF with that stupid X-box controller. With the PS controller it is actually possible to get in some good gameplay with it. So in actuality the only way to play VF on X-box is to play with a stick and some people cannot get access to a stick which sucks even more so overall fighting games on X-box suck. Hell even their shooters suck because of that damn controller.

The thought of a VF game on a not so popular system is not going to go well with the suits. Thats why VF4 and Evo were only released on PS2 rather than X-box even though microsoft is a more powerful system and could have been a perfect port. Most developers will go with the mainstream system to make more profit, and not want their title to turn into a black sheep or turn into a sleeper hit.

[/ QUOTE ]You might like it, but not all companies who have to pay for it does. Which, again, is why some games are online on Xbox but not on their PS2 counterparts.

Personally, I don't consider paying about 14 american cents per day on a quality online services for a console is expensive. I'd rather do that than get a mediocre service like the PS2 one for free.

As for the controller "problem"., buy a Magic Box for like a penny and "problem" is solved.

And BTW, the original post didn't mention anything that suggested it would be Xbox2 exclusive. Sega would actually do a smart move by going multiconsole, would probably help them a lot in the western markets, where Tekken seems to currently be more popular.

OMG whatever. It's not like I'm even going to buy X2 so let's just drop it ok.

Actually, you brought up a good point as VF being a muti-console game. That would be a great idea, and it would definitely help more US people into the scene without them having to buy a whole new system.

Hey, man. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it's crap. Subjective value assignments don't hold much water. You have every right to like PS2 online cause it's free vs. XBL because you have to pay. Your liking it doesn't make PS2 online better than XBL

You have no way to prove the second sentence. You can't KNOW it's true. Speak for yourself: "I know if I had XBL I would get tired and pissed off at paying those prices."

I don't mind paying for a service if it's worth my gaming dollar.

It's almost come to the point where I won't by an Xbox Game unless I can play online also. The whole experience is fun, Plus 50$ a year isnt a bad deal... about the price of buying one game, but if you hurt on finances then I can see where paying for online gaming would be a drag.

I have never known X-box Live to crash. It is not a bad idea to make it multi-console release even though the X-Box controller does not lend itself to fighting games. You could still use a converter to use your PS2 Stick on your X-Box.

We still won't see VF online because it will not play right. DOA didn't play right online, so I know VF won't play right online. The problem is not the systems; it is the connection speed and reliabiity.
