Look at Guilty Gear, I totally forgot I had that game. Accent Core is one of the deepest 2D fighting game out there, period.

I agree GG is so deep even the mashers of the game have great depth to them especially with the ability cancel your move at any time. I play the game some and it is no wonder it is one of the best game in Japan.

From VF 2 to early VF4 it was at the number one spot almost every week. That’s over five years. When new games were introduced (e.g. VOOT), it dropped couple notches for several weeks but would climb to the top again. Its not that surprising that it is only at the third position. The frachise iteslf is almost 15 years old and its not the phenomenon it used to be in Japan.

Sorta ironic that at the point where the popularity of VF started to wane in the Japan, it actuallly picked up in the U.S. Everything just seems to work backwards.

I acutally prefer SC over Tekken. Weapon based fighting games never did that well. Just can't explain it.

Ehehehe VOOT was one hell of a game. If I think Japanese people could play that over the internet already in 1999 or whenever it came out for Dreamcast... Nice avatar ; )

VOOT was at the number one position for about two weeks, quickly fell out of the top ten charts, and never maintain the following it had for the orignal(VOOM). The reason was due to the drastic change in gamemplay. The good thing about VF series is that it builds upon each installment rather than creating a new entire fighting engine.

I played VOOM religously, and still is my all time favorite game. I'll never forgive AM3 for destroying the franchise.

It doesn't surprise me at all to see dwindling interest in the VF franchise. VF has always been successful in Japan because AM2 has always managed to improve on the game in every installment of the series (up till 4 at least). There has always been major overhauls in each version so much so that each version of the series felt like a completely new game. Each installment was a whole new experience but it was still VF, it was like getting hooked on crack but the crack was different each time.

But VF5 has been a disappointment (to me at least). There has been very few tweaks to the game, it feels more like VF4.5 than VF5. To me, the new system additions/changes didn't add any value or much depth to the game at all, the game is "new" but it isn't any better or even different. Its just VF4 with new characters and new moves.

I got a PS3 and VSHG just to play the game but I got bored of it in less than 3 days. Disappointing, to say the least.

It's been 2 days and already those numbers you posted up are alot different. Guilty Gear being much closer to Tekken and VF much closer to Guilty Gear.

tekken 6 is just a temporary hype. vf5 is the better game overall.

Great, just great. A broken and unbalanced piece of total garbage of a fighting game is #1 on the charts. This just really makes me sick. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/sick.gif

Tekken 6 and its hype is pretty much going to die out in less than a year in arcades.

 

The way Arcadia's charts work, anything top 10 is impressive lol.

Tekken = most played in arcades. VF = most tournaments. Both are played like woa over there regardless though.
