Hello everyone, I know this may sound weird but, I'm just thinking about purchasing Virtua Fighter 5 for the PS3. I know it may be too late, however, I just recently purchased a PS3 (Finally) and it is my first "new generation system" (I know, a now outdated). I was thinking about buying Soul Calibur 4, but with Soul Calibur 5 coming next year, I really don't see the point. VF on the other hand, has yet to see a new installment, and I can easily get VF5 on the PS3 for less than $20. So my question is, what is the online community like for the PS3? Is it dead? Are there still a number of players that play the game consistently? Is online still even supported for VF5?

    Thanks a ton! [IMG]

    Yikes! :s

I guess this entire time I was thinking of the 360 version. Oh well, so much for that. I guess I'll have no choice but to look at some of the 2D games now, or...get something else. [IMG]

What about finding other people where you live to play VF5 on the PS3 with? Although VF5/PS3 doesn't have online, it does have VS mode. which IMO is the way VF is meant to be played (at least on consoles). When I run out of players (people move on whatever) I recruit new ones. I have more than one copy of
VF5 for the PS3, so what I do is let a friend try it out and before you know it, I've got some one new to kick VF around with. If he doesn't like it, I get my copy back and move on, if he does like it, I go and find another used copy of VF5 as a replacement. [IMG]

Offline is best played on the 360 as well. PS3 is version B and 360 got version C. Unless you use Eileen, then it's version B all the way as PP6P natural combos. [IMG]

I didn't intend to leave 360 out, its just the guy or gay was talking about purchasing a PS3.

Btw Are there sticks for the 360? just curious, somewhere in the back of my mind I seem to remember there were no hori's or anything else (maybe that's all been corrected by now)

I'm sure VF5 plays just fine on the 360, I just can't speak from experience on the matter [IMG]

Real gamers have duel modded sticks and can play on both consoles [IMG]

But the 360 has plenty of sticks. Everything except the rather excellent VSHG, which I don't think sega are still making. Idiots.

The thing about Soul Calibur 4 is , SC4 and SC5 are not mutually exclusive . SC4 has 3 Star Wars characters that are great , and SC4 has it's own storyline , which can be enjoyed whether you have SC5 or not. Look for local gaming centers in your area to get some offline VF5 matches in, ver B withstanding.

Don't we all. I did have access to the 360 version a few years ago, but my sister and brother sold their copies. The other very few people I use to play from the ps3 version lost interest.

Hopefully, they don't have exclusive aspects like that for the 360 anymore.

Lol, sucks to be you then Valakrie. No offense, but before I'd buy any console or game for it as a matter of fact, I'd do a little research.

My assumption is you bought a PS3 because that's what you wanted 1st and foremost, and then you thought about VF5 after.

Obviously you'd rather play the exclusive games that PS3 have to offer. Or you would've bought a 360 instead.

Anyways it's kinda sad, just to see someone like you miss out because you didn't know, and I'm not saying it's entirely your fault, since most multiplatform titles have mostly the same features.

And also, no SC4 is nothing like VF5, mindset and gameplay are totally different.

Look, I'm going by hearsay on some of the forums on VFDC. From what I've read, its not like the 360 VF online community is busting open with players who are ready to play anytime, alltime, with anybody. I've read on some VFDC forums that the traffic is actually pretty sparse. So even if you had an XBOX 360 you are not guaranteed play anytime, and anyday you want.

IMHO, your best bet, is to buy two or three copies of VF5 for the PS3 (they should be pretty cheap now) and use the extra copies to convert friends or introduce friends to the game. Let your friends try the game out for a few days, show them quest mode, have them pick a character and take him to assassin or higher and then let them beat you in the first two or three games. That's it they're hooked and now you have one more person to play against. This has worked for me many many many times. I can always have a live game whenever by texting, emailing, or callin one of the people that I either directly or indirectly introduced to the game.

Eliminate fellow forum players and a small amount of daily gamers then yes it's sparse. Valakrie, if you think you will really enjoy the game just simply buy it for PS3 and play Quest Mode. That alone can keep you going for a bit. If you're really set on playing others then take Masterpo's advice and see if you can purchase some extra copies to lend.

Either way try to get it >.<, you're missing out an amazing game!
