I am sorry to reiterate the obvious but you will have to be retarded to believe any of this.

If Sega is indeed making VF6, I would like to see a release timeline go like this:

    Year 1:

July - Release of VF6 in arcades (2 SKUs: JP networked, Int'l stand alone). Int'l stand alone can be updated (rev1, ver.a,b,c,etc) via USB patch(KoF13).

    Year 2:

February - Release of VF6 on consoles (disc based). Game gets patched with revisions and new versions (rev1, ver.a,b,c,etc) SAME DAY as arcades

    Year 3:

July - Release of VF6 2nd edition in arcades (2 SKUs: JP networked, Int'l stand alone). Int'l stand alone can be updated (rev1, ver.a,b,c,etc) via USB patch(KoF13).

    Year 4:

February - Release of VF6 2nd edition on consoles ($20 DLC AND $40 disc). Game gets patched with revisions and new versions (rev1, ver.a,b,c,etc) SAME DAY as arcades

    Year 5:

July - Release of VF6 Final in arcades (2 SKUs: JP networked, Int'l stand alone). Int'l stand alone can be updated (rev1, ver.a,b,c,etc) via USB patch(KoF13).

    Year 6:

February - Release of VF6 Final on consoles ($20 DLC AND $40 disc). Game gets patched with revisions and new versions (rev1, ver.a,b,c,etc) SAME DAY as arcades

DLC: If you own the original VF6 disc, you pay $20 to be upgraded to VF6 2nd, and another $20 to be upgraded to VF6 Final (when they are released obviously). With the original disc and DLC upgrades, you can switch to whichever version of the game you want.
For the revision/version patches, those should strictly be for gameplay and costume compatibility, but not the actual costumes. Each new costume set that comes with new versions should be $5 (Sega should be able to make $$$ for keeping up with arcade costumes)
Lastly Sega should sell old music (VF1-VF5FS) as a single DLC that will work for all editions of VF6. Maybe $10-20 price point.

VF6 2nd/Final Discs: These discs should only include the edition that is being sold and not the previous games. 2nd can pay for Final DLC and it should upgrade no problem. All costume DLCs and music DLC should be compatible with both discs.

I figure if Sega follows this plan they will not piss off arcade operators (especially ones outside of Japan). For the console versions I'm sure most of us here would be happy with just the standalone 2P game and having up-to-date patches to match the current arcade version. The only thing I want to see in the console version is 100% of what is in the arcade version, anything else is extra. VF4/evo bonuses would be great and a robust learning mode should at least be included in the first edition of VF6. Online is definitely important, but if they can't make the game run smooth online then most of us probably won't use it a lot anyways.

Should Sega follow this timeline? Yes, since this might be enough to make up for no 4FT, 5R, and 5FS(at least as of now). On top of all that, this isn't 2007 anymore. Fighting games are quite alive and although Sega has missed a few opportunities, it's not entirely too late.

This might work if and only IF SEGA support VF outside Japan by sponsoring tournis like evo and such and having a good marketing campaign. Plus, having a direct interaction with the community will show how serious they are in supporting its costumers. Therefore, we here in VFDC will be encouraged to be more active in preaching about the game in many various ways.

Nice.. It would be a miracle if sega is listening. I can see this working and bringing in new players.

    Where to begin...

Of course all of these ideas sound good on paper, but they dont take into account the history of VF releases. VF5 on PS3 sold like shit. On Xbox 360 sold even less.

Arcades around the world are dying or dead. VF6 units, if they ever going to make them, will be stupidly expensive. Who is going to buy/rent such a niche unit, considering the popularity of VF in the west?

I sometimes wonder if you guys really believe Sega wants VF to fail. Seriously, is this the best explanation you can come up with, 'Sega is incompetent'? I know its a meme here on VFDC, but I always think its a bit of a dramatization.

PS: VF6 will sell 500 copies in total[/size]

This so called "Sony survey" for "Futura" is some made up BS and it's clear by just looking at the URL. How retarded are these people?

    Hmmm. Just had a thought.

20th Anniversary of VF will be coming in 2013.

That sounds like fairly good timing to do the next big VF thing. They could be waiting to release Final Showdown for console in 2012 to build up to it. Might be a decent marketing decision actually. Have it fresh in people's minds when the new one comes out to blow them away.

I hope I'm not raining on ur parade, but I remember nothing happened for VF's 15th anniversary, then again 20 is more of a milestone to celebrate than 15.

This is genius, great if it actually happened. But, (and please correct me if I'm misreading or something) how would it work online? If anyone moves are altered between versions that would force anyone to upgrade to the newest version to be able to play online.

To keep it simple online could be self sustaining for each edition (VF6/VF6 2nd/VF6Final) allowing you to play whatever game online, but if a new revision/version is out (rev1,vera,b,c,etc) you're required to play whatever is most up to date like the arcades.

To use VF5 as an example (assuming we had every game and version), you could play VF5 ver.D, VF5R ver.C, or VF5FS ver.A online

I just thought of another (possibly) good idea for VF6, for the controls, since I've heard some of u guys miss the dodge button used in VF3 and VF5 allowed a sideways dodge using the P+K+G button, how about when pressing forward x 2, or back x 2, u press the P+K+G button to do a fast dash forward/backward. The reason I think it should the P+K+G button should be pressed after pressing the forward/backward button twice is so u can still do some moves that requires a specific fighter to press forward/backward once along with the P+K+G button at the same time, any thoughts?

Seriously though, they've had multiple arcade boards since Lindbergh right? New hardware doesn't = new VF.
