We do have some of the best fight game players in the world playin VF, Why not have a hall of fame on this board, or on the Wiki. It would help some of the new players in figuring out who's fights to find and study. Give everybody some benchmarks

Maybe deserving players could be inducted every year at SoCal

it all depends on one's definition of Hall of Fame.

 

I don't see the point of this thread or what you are asking if your compiling a list that mainly contains Japanese players. Most of the people on your list is already some sort of a Hall Of Fame'r... I guess it just depends on what your definition of Hall of Fame'r is.

If your compiling a list of inductees out side of Japan then yeah I agree with Social Ruin and Denkai should be on the list.

My nomination to the list... Ghetto Shun! Best US VF player ever in my opinion. If VF5R ever comes out you may see his return... beware!!!!!!!

Didn't mean to just single out Japanese players, or to leave out Denkai, Ghetto Shun, or anyone else. The list I put up were just some names off the top of my head.

I think the VFDC community should define what the criteria for the hall of fame should be. Seriously

I just know the new players comin up don't know whose who, or in some cases what Top shelf game play even looks like. They don't know the history of the game or anything about some of the famous tournaments or matches that have gone down. Lot of cats I mentioned are VF legends (regardless of country) IMO its a good thing to pass VF lore, famous battles, crazy gatherings on to the new players. Also to have somewhere where
the establish players or old school players can go and reminisce

We do have some people who have made tremendous contributions to the VF community and some that have defined excellence in VF gameplay. Maybe Hall of Fame[/size] is not the right thing, but I just think there should be somewhere we can see bios, records,
accomplishments, videos of matches, of the VF Heroes

It might sound a little hoaky, but think about it, those of us
who've been around a little while do know a few things. On the other hand new players (and believe or not we do get new players) have nothing official to look at(I don't think) to bring them up to speed on VF legends or our long time top tier players (regardless of country).

There are no vids of him playing VF5. Although he has played 100 games or so, he absolutely hates it.

You can find a VF4 vid with him in it here in the movie thread BK starter. He doesn't come up until towards the end of the first vid with his name (ghettoSHUN) in it. I think it's around 5:30 or so.

I'm sure even adamYUKI can vouch for his strength as they have been long time rivals and Adam would probably have given anything to have him play VF5.

srsly, i came here to post this.

I think this idea is flawed from the very beginning. Literally and figuratively. Literally flawed from the beginning: thread created by masterpro who hasn't played anyone from the site as that i know of. Figuratively, b/c we need a clearly established guideline for what constitutes a hall of famer. There are enough arguements in baseball after all this time, and at least in that, everyone is looking at the same body of work, with accurate** statistics to back up what people have done over a career.

VFDC has a hard enough time just coming up with accurate lists of: who is the top x user in the game? Let alone going into hall of fame mode.

for instance, on Sam's list I seen some people that would absolutely belong in any hall of fame. And then some people that would absolutely not belong in any hall of fame. Unless of course we are really emphasizing the "fame" portion of hall of fame.

Example:
No one can doubt Konjou/jhow/denkai/adamyuki are hall of fame worthy.
But MY hall of fame would definitely have too high of standards for Yupa to make it in. To me, that would water down the accomplishments of those others worthy of getting in. Unless you wanted to argue on the side of famous, and then yeah, there are few enough good sarah players, so you say who is a good sarah people say: Slide, then Mista Tee, then Yupa. So he's in effect famous. Just depends on what standards people want to use for their selections.

but, i enjoy a lengthy thread and good natured bickering as much as anyone, so i'll stay tuned to this thread.

Nah only kidding, anyway there's no need for a hall of fame list for players from VFDC.

 

As far as the US VF scene goes, Yupa, and others like GE, Bungle, Jerky, (and tons more) - due to their play and work waaaay before console play was the shit, these dudes have been inducted IMO, and if not, should be the first ones to be.

Too bad VF isn't poppin like SF

So yeah, don't pull XBL players and call them hall of famers, including me. Thanks, but it's pretty insulting
