My favourite series along with VF also developed by AM2. I'm still waiting for the 3rd part.

Some guy uploaded some videos showing the VF influence on the fighting system of Shenmue II. Some of the fighters in the game resembles the ones in VF.

Master Baihu = Lau Chan's Tiger Swallow Style

Greg More = Wolf Hawkfield's Wrestiling

Chunyan Xu = Sarah Bryant's Jeet Kune Do

Rod Stunt = Jeffry McWild's Pancratium

Ryo Hazuki must be introduced in the next VF!!!

If they ever put him in a fighting game it would have to be fighters maegamix 2. They would also have to remember all those other crazy sega fighters like fighting vipers, last bronx, sonic fighters, and VF Kids. Lets not forget a few other sega characters like the guy from Yakuza, a Nights character, Ulalla, a Jet Grind Radio character, a Battle Axe character Etc,.

I agree with you totally on bringing Ryo into the scene but sega should due the Fighters Megamix thing again to promote other fighting frranchises.

I'm a big fan of Shenmue too (well actually all of SEGA title /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif) and I think Ryo Hazuki definetly should be on the VF line up. I've noticed that there seems to be a similarity between Akira Yuki's Hakkoyu-Ken and Ryo style.
Master Baihu would be great too (great character & great costume, especially the mask!)
    Or Lan Di !...maybe

and for AM2 guys pplllleeaasseee make Shenmue 3

Ryo began using the "Hazuki Style Jujitsu" which was created by his father, Iwao Hazuki. By the history progressed Ryo learned more techniques from different styles of martial arts /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif Now Ryo has an hybrid fighting style (he should sign for UFC or any other MMA tournament xD)

I would love to see many of those characters on a future VF like, Baihu, Chai, Dou Niu, Ren, Guizhang, Xiuying and of course Lan Di they all fit perfectly!

as much as i love shenmue and consider it to be my favorite game of all time, i dont agree of bringing the characters to the VF world. simply, i dont want VF to turn into another tekken game (unbalanced characters).
although i would like to see some easter eggs, like a whole Ryo's costume item for Akira.
if shenmue characters have to be brought into a fighting game, a new Fighters Megamix will do great if not marvelous.
maybe with a new Fighters Megamix, there could be an excuse for AM2 to bring a fighter to online. and that will definitely will rock, since no buddy expecting the game to be balanced and stuff, they just want to have fun with there favorite SEGA character. I know i do XD.

Very true that's why i prefer VF over Tekken cause it's perfect balance but that doesn't mean that will screw up the game balance.

When VF4 first came out, there were rumours of Akira having a Ryo Hazuki costume, but they ended being just rumours...

A new Fighter Megamix with Shenmue characters would be great! But I think the probability of it coming our is quite small /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

I think SEGA needs to take the bull by the horns and say: corporately if Nintendo can still make money off of Super Smash Brothers then we sure as hell can make money off of a Sequel to Fighters Megamix. Serioulsy Sega get some balls. This is a game that would turn the gaming world on its side. I also think SEGA shouldn't make so many games, find one big game to help get them back on top. It would take 2-3 years to make the game but it would so be worth the wait!!!

you can somewhat make akira look like lan di, while goh looks like chai's offspring. who knows maybe lei fei was one of the monks from part 2 or maybe jeffery's real name is tom /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

You guys do know that Shenmue started out as a Virtua Fighter RPG, right? It was being developed before the Saturn and Dreamcast was even out. It's no coincidence that Land Di looks like Lau and Ryo looks like Akira and that the fighting system is similar. There's even a bunch of people you fight in the 2nd Shenmue that used Jeffrys and Wolfs moves ( maybe more, like Sarah too but i'm not sure? ) from Virtua Fighter 4 ( which wasn't out for a while after Shenmue 2 ).

It even mentions it on Wikipedia...

" The Dreamcast game Shenmue, also developed by AM2/Yu Suzuki, and was called Virtua Fighter RPG in the early stages of development and features a Virtua Fighter-like fighting system and in-game Virtua Fighter memorabilia (such as capsule machine toys of the characters). Yu Suzuki has said numerous times that he used the series' main character, Akira Yuki, as the main influence in the main character Ryo Hazuki. Throughout the game and its sequel, there are several characters whose appearances and fighting styles closely match those of the Virtua Fighter series. "

I'm sure you could find loads of resemblances if you played through the 2 games again. I don't own the first Shenmue no more but I have the 2nd one on xbox I might play through it again.
