since the characters in the game have birthdays, does that mean that the characters are all going to change, in a few years from now Akiira will be 40, Lau suposedly is suposed to have a mortal Virus, and Shun is over 100 years old, they'll have to count the real years too not only the ones in the game, my question is will they ever die out, remove the birthday or just ignore their age and keep them in the game.

To be perfectly honest, I think they should ditch the profiles of the characters entirely. This would avoid the pissing matches about their story lines, how AM2 forgot this or that critical move as part of the characters' designated fighting style, etc.

Lion's birthday's at Christmas eve, and Pai's is on the Nowegian National Liberation day.

Here's a freaky idea; how about skipping the character storys and adding a second game model to all 'playtypes'. That is, one male and one female model of all the characters represented (which would be impossible to make a dumb story line for... well almost). It would probably put alot of the lesser used characters (girls) into play more and would be a lovely option imo.

    Pure genius, KiwE.

    I fully agree.
Several times I have tried to pick up Vanessa because I like her style/moves but I find her character design (visual and audio, not the moves) just too shitty. (*insert flames of Vane players here*, and yes, I realise Am2 probably chose to create a female Vale Tudo character because of Tekken's Marduk (or whatever the dude's name is)). Call me lame, but if I don't like the character design I have a hard time playing him/her (and no, it is not that I dislike female characters per se, I play Aio, Baiken and several Kof girls).

Moreover, a girl with Akira's moves... now that would be one mean-ass lady...
Or Jeffry's moves... headbutts and throws all the way...

    Yeah, I love that idea!

Personally, I dont think thats what VF needs. I think VF just needs better character design. Cooler storys, Cooler looking moves, More special effects when doing moves(not fireballs, more like the flash in SC or Tekken). This would make the game not only popular in Japan but the united states and the rest of the world.

Man I was under the misconeptcion that Virtua Fighter was very popular in Japan and a lot of parts of the World as well.

I think adding flashes and visual effects to character moves wouldn't be intelligent. It would be distracting to watch a character brimming with lights when your trying to catch crumples, backstaggers, collapses and other movements from your opponent.

Actually there is a female character with Akira's moves/fighting style her name is xuiing (or whatever her name is) and she is in Shenmue 2. It would be cool if Sega put her (along with other shenmue characters) in a virtua Fighter game.
I think Sega should do the character ages like Tekken and DOA do, by just giving out there age in each installment instead of there date of birth.

Sorry for posting in a out dated post I just found this thread really interesting that’s all

The story bites to absolutely no end so I say ditch the profiles and the story altogether. As if anyone plays VF for the plot twists anyway.

it seems the character ARE actually getting older /versus/images/graemlins/ooo.gif...i mean just look at akira from vf2--his skin as smooth as a baby /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif. As the years have gone by (him traning in the mountains secluded an all), he looks more mature--scars on his face, a few wrinkles here and there, and he definately got a tan for shu /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif.

speaking of age, i'm surprised shun di's still alive. doesn't lau have an illness that's uncurable? so he won't be in vf 5,right? /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

the storylines are just a bunch of b.s. if you read lion's profile, it says at the end "i am the only one who will win the tournament"--...ha ha don't make me laugh, that comin from a homo, PLEASE!

I think they should change some of the ages around. like by the way Jacky acts and talks he should be like 23 not 33. i think Akira being 34 (or 35 i think) is cool. it matches his character. i think they should just re-age allot of the characters. i won't mind. and just give out the ages with each installment. not give out there actual birth dates.

Not for the plot twists, but i always liked to have some background of the fighters in my fighting games... at least know their motivations, even if they are cheesy./versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif
