Visit to the SEGA Arcade, Akita Japan

Just came back from a year long foreign exchange through YFU (Youth For Understanding - http://www.yfu.org) and I stayed in Akita, Japan with a really good family for a year.

Needless to say, we had a Sega Arcade down the street where I went once in a while to go play Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution. I'm not the best player, but I'm ok, and I really liked wasting 100 yen for 2 games of VF4 play.

I had heard about stat-saving cards you could buy, but unfortunately they didnt sell them at the arcade. However one day in the mall's arcade, they had a bunch of rows of VF4, and at the end a card dispenser. I bought one on the spot for 500 yen.

It's a "VF4 Character Access Card", and mine is reddish-orange (not sure if there are multiple versions). My fav character is Wolf, so I have his stats on my card.

Later when I went to Akihabara, Tokyo, I was lucky enough to use it at one of the little arcades I found there.

too bad you came back just a little too early to play the new version of VF4 (Evolution)... glad you had a chance to try the game in japan, the way it was meant to be played with the access card. Now that you're back, maybe you can find competition in the states.
