    Hi,

Anyone played VO marz? First impressions?

    Plays like a different game.

    yo!

I bought vo marz 2 days ago.

I must say I enjoy it quite a bit.

However...the game is not without it flaws.
With the original VOOM n VOOT n VO: Force, one can call the game ' control a big robot n duke it out!'. But with Marz, u definitely cannot use that tag.

The robots in this game are puny! Tiny! HULK SMASH!
VOOT for the DC was such a awesome conversion...but with Marz..

Loading time is also anal. There are 37(or more) VRs in the game. Due to the anal loading speed...selecting VRs during mission or challenge mode is a fucking PAIN!

    Also..U cannot save ur replays....

Perhaps I have been spoilt by vf4..but I would have thought that by now, companies should know saving replays is a very very very much sought after function which they MUST included in any vs games!

Most serious flaw is.....lack of training mode!

Even VooT on the DC had a training mode!
How do they seriously expect new comers to experiment n learn at their own pace? Or tinker around with the engine n find out the new stuff?.

For those that don't know...marz is based on the force engine. 2 on 2 battles. I never had the luxury of playing Force b4...so I was very very very happy to finally get a chance to buy the game n try it out.

This is not VOOT. Alot of Voot techniques n cancels now no longer work in the game. Either they have been taken out, or I just suck with the pad using the Twin A configuration.

Oh, there is no twin sticks for the ps2..which is a major dissapointment....but u can configure ur ps2 pad to become a mini(thus, suckier) twin sticks. Think the 4 shoulder buttons n the two analog stick.

Some (I think Many) have complained that the direction force took resulted in the game sucking. Though to my knowledge...Force is not released outside of Japan...just how did western gamers came to the conclusion that Force sucked? Thru internet or coffee break discussions? Flew over to Japan to try out the various different team combinations Force offered?
(This is not an attack on all uf VOers...just wondering!)

But the changes make alot of sense. For example..watari dash has been totally removed. I too was very disappointed in the begining. But after 5 mins...I understood why it was removed. Think abt it..if we played VOOT engine ..2 0n 2..with all of VOOT's technicalities in Force, what would happen if one team was down to one VR?!! His chances of survivial or getting in time to rescue his teammate is pretty much zero~

Questionable(I don't like it) bits in the game :

    A) the number of variations for Temjin...I am so sick of Temjin..I never liked him since VOOM...sure he looks cool n stuff...but, u might as well change the name of the game to VO: TEMJIN FANS BE JOY!!!!!!!!!

    B)GFX...some say becos it's 2 on 2...thus gfx took a hit..
good news is, no slowdown! well done on this hit maker!

    C) vs mode is 30 fps...

D)There is a challenge mode in the game(which is basically like Dramatic mode...but minus the storyline n stuff..n in all honesty..I am not interested in the whole V crystal..mars company..he or she slept with who storyline~). The down side of this challenge mode is, it is strictly a 1p game. WTF!

    D) U can indeed play 2 on 2 vs AI in another mode. The down side is...the AI in this mode suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! U cannot select the difficulty lvl in this mode!!!!! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!

E)no iLink...another dent to the game!!!!

    So, is the game fun?

    For me..it was.
I found the game fun becos I was willing to acknowledge it is a different game n willing to tinker with the new VRs n figure out new ways to play the game aka 2 on 2. In fairness, this is not to say that others did not give the game the same chance as I did. The only difference is, I didn't mind the change. Others did. Can't please them all /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

For the casual gamer, I can see them getting lost n throwing their controllers at the screen. Although the manual does a decent job of explaining some of the controls..still....training mode not being in there was a bad bad bad bad decision.

For hardcore VOOT players, I do not dare to say if it's the game for u or not. It's like VF2 to VF3 (I love 3!). Some loved VF3...some hated it.

But overall, from a personal opinion, I didn't regret my purchase. Despite all the negatives I listed in this post. I just thought I should be honest n not fall into the fanboy syndrome~

Loading speed is really darn slow. Its shocking. Even, VOOM on Saturn was faster.

VOOT is definitely better than Marz, many many times.

I'm also wondering why Sega didn't include a Co op feature for dramatic mode. Feel that I can do better with another friend. The AI is just not responsive enuff, especially during those boss match ups.

There was one time , my AI Apharmd partner rushed the Z-gradt sub-boss, when the sub boss was still in invulnerable mode.... The apharmd was like an ant tickling a giant. /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

    well
let's hope they fix up many of these issues in the US ver

    I will buy another one.
(Actually, the more I think abt it..it's truly...idiotic to be so hardcore over a game...have to spend more!)

I dun mind playing a modified VOOT with Co op support. Its in fact better than Marz. Marz plays more like a beta game to me.

Buggy, no. But, seriously flawed. Too much loading time. Funny thing is why famitsu gave it a 33/40 rating. Its a bit high for a sub-standard game.

Right now, I am more than ready to take out my old DC voot to play. At least, its more playable than marz.

cannot believe famitsu all the time mah hahaha

n yeah...i think the biggest issue I have with marz now is

    twin sticks

    I suppose..I am just...missing VO that much~
Even a so so one kinda entertain me alot~

haha. play zoe2. Zoe2 is much more playable than marz.

These days, I only play Marz for the kick of it. Its just like another game to me. Only think is, it isn't as good as VOOT. BTW, I still have the DC Voot. haha. But, no twin sticks.

DC voot is a blast to play. I still have VOOM somewhere in my stack of CDs. lol

BTW, my friend's neighbour does custom made controllers. If u r keen, I can ask him about the price for a twin sticks controller.

    zoe2 is too easy
completed all diffculty using damaged jehuty liao~

so in many ways..if it wasn't for the music n the cinematics..

    zoe2 is also a disappointment.......nevertheless..awesome game~

I meant, twin sticks for ps2

I have twin sticks for DC

if the neighbour can custom make twin sticks for ps2..
    then we're talking baby!
