In order to play against regional competiton online you must have the following Gamertags in your friends list.

    Virginia: chief flash
    Boston: JerkyVFDC
    New York: Black Bauer CTU

***IF YOUR REGION or GAMERTAG IS NOT HERE PM ME YOUR INFO.THX***

To play with us you should create a room and invite the above Gamertag to play. If you have a request to play a certain player then send a message to that players Gamertag region. The region should try and fulfill that request

I have a feeling if everyone tries to play Socal then the wait will be a while. So use the Gamertag info above to find more players.

**Please inform me if you will be joining the free play event and what the Gamertag will be for that region**

    Online Regional Tournament Rules:
    2 on 2 Tournament
    Single Elimination
Random drawing to create teams, put names in hat and draw. First 2 picks are 1st team, next 2 picks are 2nd team. So on and so forth. If their is an odd man with no teammate then they will be able to play 2 characters for 1 team.
You can only use one character throughout tournament
Winners from each Regional Tournament will play in the Online Tournament.
** Please come to this thread once your regional tourney is over so the winners will know which team they will face online**

Add these Gamertags for the Online Regional Tournament:

    Socal: Brisal73
    Nocal:
    Virginia: chief flash
    Colorado: Junosynth
    Boston: JerkyVFDC
    Utah:
    New York: Black Bauer CTU
    Florida:

***IF YOUR REGION IS NOT HERE PM ME YOUR INFO.THX***

    More Tourney Info:
Your region MUST have a gathering of 2 or more players in order to participate in this Tourney. If you only have 2 players then you advance to the Online Tourney automatically.
If your region is holding a gathering and your not there then you CANNOT participate in the tourney. The Online Tournament is for the Regional Gatherings (2 or more players).
LAG!!!!! If your game is a lagfest you can replay the round up to three times. If a game is deemed uplayable then the match is forfeited and both teams are eliminated. In other words.. MAKE sure you have a GREAT connection. One direct line to 360 should help A LOT

    FAQ

So you may be asking what is this?
Socal is known for throwing some great gatherings. With the release of the Online 360 version you can join in.

    How would this work?
The idea is to have 3 setups for offline matches and 1 setup for online. So you can now play Socal in the comfort of your own home.

    What about Lag?
This event isn't to show your VF power. I fully expect to play online games with lag (some games better than others). This is for fun and to bring the community together.

How can I lower the risk of bad lag?
Try not use a router, or other ethernet sources. One cable running directly to your system should help.

What do you I need to bring?
360 Memory Card to save your character data even if you dont have a 360.
If your coming to the venue. Bring Setups.
We currently have 4 Tv's 1 systems and 3 arcade sticks. I would like to have 4 tv's (3 offline 1 online), 4 systems, and 7 sticks. So in other words BRING WHAT YOU CAN.

    Are we playing on PS3's?
The system of choice would be the XBOX 360. However if setups are not available we will be using the PS3

    Whats to eat and drink?
Like usual soda, beer, chips, and dip will be provided.
For main course ($5 per person) we can get pizza , Zankou or whatever else you guys like.

Who's coming to this event so far?
    Offline:
    Brisal73
    Sweep the Leg
    Kaiyosuke
    Pigznutz
    Dayspring (new)
    LA_Akira
    Plague
    Howboutsum
    Maybes: GoatCheeseBlues, Ken_I, PhoenixDTH

    Online:
    Dre
    Sebo
    TexasLion
    Godeater
    The_Wall
    Denkai
    Tricky

Updates will be posted on vfdc and http://www.vfsocal.com

    thx

    Great idea!

Depending on the quality and community response to the online play, I am starting to think this will be the deciding factor for me getting a XBOX, sorry Sony. I still want to go to Socal after getting more exposure to VF5 though.

The idea is great but you need to have the window of online play more open like from 8:00 PM to 2:00 AM.

I'm hoping some of the people that play locally will invite me over for this. I'm not planning on getting the 360 version of the game yet because the connection I have for internet is pretty crapy.

I remember last time we played back in spring So Cal 2006. My game was of a poor quality back then and you owned me hardcore. Since then my game has improved to what degree is hard to tell, so I hope that I can join you online on the 3rd of November!!!

Please post or PM me your Xbox live Gamertags.

    Thx
    -Brian

Also as a reminder to Socal Vf'ers that don't have a 360's. Make sure you get the new version that includes an HDMI input.

This will help greatly with our setups since Plague's HDTVS do not have component or composite hook ups

Brisal wants to use my 360 for the online portion of the event, which is coo with me. Instead of sending all of your gamer tags, I think it'll be easier if you guys just add me if you want to take part in the event. Typing all of your names using the pad would be torture. :>

    My XBL tag: UnderTheVolcano

Feel free to add me -- look forward to playing you all at the event.

Great idea guys. My brother and me should be online for this. The gamer tag is JunoSynth. I'm sure the other CO guys will be on too.

Note to self: upgrade DSL to cable and sign on back to Live before Nov. 3rd.

If you guys could add my tag (UnderTheVolcano) it would be a lot easier for me -- since my machine will be used at the event, that's just one name you have to add as compared to about 50 I'd have to hunt 'n peck with the xbox pad. Thanks fellas.

Latency (ping) is what matters, not bandwidth. Cable latency often is worse than dsl.

Yeah, I've heard about that, but anything has got to be better then my current DSL. I can't play Tekken DR online cause it lags so bad. Well, I'm hoping there's something better then my DSL.

look to see if Verizon Fios or At&T Uverse have Fiber Optic connection in your area. That would be the fatsest and most stable
