    Yeah, I finished up a single-switch ps3 / x360 mod this weekend, works fine.

I don't have time to do the mod for other people, but I'll probably post up a howto in the next couple of days. Basically you just put a DPDT switch on the usb data line ( white and green ) between the two pcbs, and then wire up the rest of the 360 pcb points to the underside of the VSHG pcb.

    wow great news.

i'm looking at a microcon right now and see the green and white wires running from usb cord. so basically if i understand this right this is what you did:

    1. cut usb cord on the 360 pcb and expose the wiring.
    2. take the green and white and attach them to one end of a dpdt switch.
    3. take the red 5v and black grounds of the 360 pcb and wire direct to the usb wiring of the ps3 usb cable without severing it.
    4. cut the green and white from ps3 usb cable and attach the wiring coming from the pcb to the opposite end of the dpdt switch.
    5. attach the green and white from the usb cable to the middle leads of the dpdt switch.
    6. wire all inputs from the 360 pcb directly to the ps3 pcb so that they constantly have power and ground going to them but since data is not shared over one line you don't get crazy inputs?

am i missing anything? i'm just assuming you used the ps3 cord but i think i would like to use the 360 cord since it may be longer and has the breakaway.

i was also thinking of doing it a similar way in just tapping the 5v from each pcb to a switch but didn't know if it would work.

but great job again man. i think you just became everybody with a vshg's hero.

Don't switch the +5v or ground, it wont work; you need to switch the data lines (or use a usb hub). Yep, your steps 1-6 are basically what I did. Differences being:

    - there are big fat solder pads on the opposite side of the microcon pcb where the usb connection is, so that's a good source for ground, +5v, and the two data lines; you can just cut the 360pcb usb cord completely off and not have to worry about splicing wires.

    - I cut the green & white lines as close to the pcb as possible & used the backside of the vshg pcb, for similar reasons. I used the ps3 cable b/c it's the right opening for the vshg.

    - even when I put a resistor between the middle & high points after desoldering the 360 rt and lt trigger pots, the ps3 r2 & l2 buttons weren't working quite right - would stick down. I just disabled the 360 triggers (desoldered them from the ps3 pcb) & used the 360 rb / lb for the 5th and 6th face buttons. Ps3 / xbox guide & select / back still work fine.

thanks man, i'm gonna try this mod later on this week and alot of your points make perfect sense about using the vshg wire.

one more question though. what kind of resistors did you use for the triggers? most commonly i hear people use the 4.7k's for trigger functionality but in the xbox-scene forums were they originally hacked official pads they used 10k. do you think it makes a difference? i'm not an electronics guy so i'm sorry if this is a dumb question. i'm just trying to understand better how these things work.

    but again thanks man.
