Yeah, same bitchy attitude, but Shang wouldn't be caught dead with that hair style... Shang's voice is higher! =)

I just got the feeling watching it that it's a bunch of posers. Maybe they can show some skill in the driving or FPS games. <shrug>

Sux that the big climax was a face off between the worst 2 players. All but 2 getting beat by Pai in arcade mode is pathetic. My 10 yr old neice gets to Akira consistently when she plays arcade... :p

You didn't get that impression the moment you started watching? They're all right of the bell curve attractiveness, and an (almost) even gender distribution. They seem pretty quick to claim that they dominate across the board but they've failed to impress so far. Like you, my guess is that in Halo 3 they'll seem decent-ish, but other than that, poor.
Also, what do real like challenges have to do with gaming? By all means have them in there, and reward people that do well, but it seems silly to have it taken into account to determine ranking.

Yeah, as expected, these people were picked because of their good looks and the drama factor. Its much more important to makers of this program than actual gaming skills. Im happy that AT LEAST they DID face each other in versus, because the announcer talked something like "face off in score challenge" at one point. I was like oh no.

The players did manage to have some form of strategy. Kelly with distancing and 'using Kages long range moves' as taught (incorrectly) by that Dante dude. Amy with far better and correct strategy, "block and punish". I wish Adam had managed to teach them techroll though.

The biggest gripe I have with this program is if random audience gets the impression that these contestants have some form of skill in their respective games and that VF really is all that.

ps. Props for Dante regardless for his right words about VF. "VF is not beginners luck kind of game".

Everyone should just greet Adam at Plague's with:

<span style='font-size: 26pt'>"THE KEY IN THIS GAME IS TO JUST STREAMLINE YOUR REPERTOIRE."[/size]</span>

Also, Adam my man you are such a trendy hoe - all cute in your vest. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

I don't get it tough, if the participants don't have the time to master a "complex" game like VF why don't they give them something less "compliated" like, say, SSF2T:HDR. Note that i'm using quotes before and after "complicated" in order to avoid derailing the thread, you can replace SSF2T:HDR with MKvsDC for all i care. I just wanted to point out that i question the choice of beat em up for the purposes of the reality-tv show. Of course any publicity for VF is a good thing so i shouldn't really be bothered, even if it's by accident. Still, it perplexes me and invokes the previous debate we had about the videogame industry having the wrong people taking the decisions - apparently the same holds for the (reality) tv industry...

It's because VF5 is the official WCG fighting game.

Rock band 2 isnt and they were playing it in the first episode

You know, Im not bothered with this series that much as long as they dont try to over-emphasize that these guys are 'pro's.

They might even be but the end-result doesnt turn out very pro-looking because they have been put at impossible position. Like said before, it takes years to become a real pro-lvl player in VF. Same for the others.

Nobody could say that Adam isnt a true pro and have awesome skills, but he cant really teach anything worthwhile to the contestants in the short time he was given. People cant truly learn VF in 1-2 evenings. Couple times Ive tried to give short crash-course to some people who havent really touched VF so they could take part in a VF tournament. I can tell you its hopeless. The players cant remember even one string effectively.

Well, I have said this multiple times now, the program is a nice concept but it needs some work. I really wonder who watches it, because Ive read that the PC-gamers who consist of the largest part of the so called pro-gamer circuit, are furious that contestants dont compete in any PC games in this series.

    Watching Ep3 right now.

Jamaal challenged Dante to VF5 for talking smack.

The match they play in real life is on Brad's stage. During the fight they show close-ups of supposedly their match but each snippet is on different stages. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Agreed. You could put these people in this situation and have them only play VF (get rid of real world challenges and other games,) and maybe I'd watch it with something other than rubbernecking enthusiasm. The end final would really show their attitude and dedication. Still, dunno if anything impressive would come as a result, given that it's probably filmed over the course of a couple of weeks or more.

Also, because I am watching it with rubbernecking enthusiasm, this guy seems to be capturing and uploading them: http://www.youtube.com/user/xTEARDROPZx
