WCG VF5 Canada Finals

While it would be nice to have a plethora of players for the Canadian Nationals, we gets what we gets. If you're Canadian and not on the list below - shame on you, you need to invest more effort into making our WCG Nationals more fun and competitive. /rant

Day 1 of competition was today, at the FAN Expo here in Toronto.

Tournament Format:
Round Robin for Seeding: With only 5 players, it was decided to do "Ironman" style round robin (some people may remember this at the VF4 Top Gun tourney in NYC a few years back). Essentially, everyone will play everyone twice. The trick is that you sit down, play everyone. Then the next guy sits down and plays everyone, and so on. This allows for people to have a "warm" part, and a "cold" part to the round robin. Works well.

• Game setting: Default, best of 5 rounds, 45 sec rounds, 200 health.
• Each match in the round robin was a Best of 5 games. Given that there was only 5 of us, it was nice that it made the round robin a lot of VFing.

Read from left to right is a person's Ironman. Rounds are notated as Win-Loss. For the mathematically challenged, if you see 9-0, it means that person won 3 games 3-0, 3-0, 3-0. With me so far?

I really hope there is some, it's going to be a treat watching a technical Jeffry like GE even if I've never heard of his opponents give or take Llanfair.

 

Kamais - apparently there was a Western WCG qualifier for VF5, in Vancouver. Did you hear about it, or know if anyone in the Vancouver area that may have attended?

 

Yeah I've heard about it, but I didn't attend because I live in Victoria and secondly I don't want to fly to Toronto even if I won or something. Since I didn't go to it I don't know who may have attended, Mackfactor lives in Burnaby maybe he knows?

 

Finals are done! Semis were done as a best of 5 games, each game set to default 3 rounds, 45 sec, 200 health. Finals were a best of 7 games.

Was a really fun weekend and GE and I had a riot playing it out at the end. Only one winner Both of us were well deserved. Super kudos to GE for making it an epic final match.

 

it was a great lot of fun and surpising just because I'd stopped playing VF5 - I honestly didn't expect to have as much fun as I had.

The finals were brutal(in the sense of it being a looong day), the matches were down to the wire and it went the way it should have. Kudos to Llanfair for taking the entire thing and a HUGE amount of swag with him.
