Weekend at onny's house (UK)... replay discussion

ok, i had a fun time, so thanks onny for inviting us, i wanted to do some more brad only scrambles with u and jun, but i guess time dissalowed that (i'm kindda lucky as i almost had trouble on the way home).

mostly i wanted to ask a few question reguarding the replays saved. if you want to stick up matches as i was thinking of doing, i wanted to know who does not want their play shown at all, i know we all have replays saved.

i have:

6 matches with jun (wolf v wolf scramble)
1 match vs stroppa (5 rounder)
1 match vs ryan (5 rounder)

I know UK is abit careful about oneday seeing their matches online without their own concent, so speak up now, if you have replays saved, you can do the same here.

anyone who sees jun often, could u ask him if it's ok to stick up the wolf matches? thx v much (btw, i get owned for the most part^^)

I don't remember any of my matches being saved all weekend but if they were then I've got no problem with them being posted up.

 

pad kage right? i've never seen a pad being used to it's full potential before^^ it was like you had no input worries at all! too bad we didnt play eachother. mabye next time.

Yeah that was me, I was gonna wait around and play you but the queues were big in that room (probably because Ryan was in there) so I got impatient and ended up in the other room. You looked good from what I saw though so hopefully I'll give you a game sometime in the future.

thinking about it, i should make a more general post saying MANY THANKS to everyone who came.
it was an awesome night of fighting, i learned and improved so much as well as having a great laugh.


special thanks go to our visitors who braved 3-5 hour journeys and early mornings to come and play VF with us, that is some awesome commitment to the beautiful game that you guys have.
Ent - your RAP is a beast! and your kage even beastlier! everyone agreed with this. i hope you manage to forget all the times you hammered me throughout the night, and just remember the time i beat you in our first first-to-five, kthx! thinking back, i wish i'd saved more matches of me vs you, but oh well..
Stroppa - man your lei fei was madness! extremely solid stuff. shame we didn't get to play a bit more, but i guess i will just have to live with the defeat of muai thai. it will prevail over shaolin next time, i swear it! /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif seriously though, sometimes i had such a difficult time even finding an opening to hit you. good stuff.
Elite - the token pad player haha. i must say that i was suprised by the speed and quality of your execution.. i wasn't expecting your akira to be that fast haha. we had some great matches in the middle of the night too, lau vs lau was too much! ++ madness haha. both your kage and your akira are really, really strong! good luck at that tourney in manchester.. and maybe next time your brother could come too. 2 pad players.. it is hard to comprehend such evilness! hehe.
it was also nice to know that the three of you are great guys, you are more than welcome to come next time something like this happens!

as for the local players.. thanks for coming and thanks for playing your best! i think the atmosphere at this session was absolutely great. very friendly, lots of laughs. everyone was up for a fight, and everyone got a lot of good matches i think. i hope we can do this again soon.

p.s, hatim and jason.. THE GATECRASHERS.. just to say, it worked out fine you guys being there, in fact i think you both added a lot to the session! thanks for coming /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

 

damn, I really should be in the VF-UK room more, lol. Everytime Im there tho it's silent so I quit out the program, lol. Ah well, PM me here next time next time u have a session onny.

Seriously though I think I'm going to get a stick after Sept 25th, after seeing the level of movement you can get I must say I'm envious. I'm surprised you thought my play was fast because I thought my inputs were really bad this weekend, Kage saves the day there /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Lau v Lau was totally hilarious man, superknife-fest! I wish I'd saved some of those onto my card because I'm sure watching it again would crack me up even more.

I am still pretty tired but I will try and compose my thoughts on what I thought was far and away the best session I've ever been to.

I had worries about my ability to stay awake 24 hours plus to play vf, but there was so much quality vf play going on I just couldn't bring myself to lie down while there was a chance of gtting some more games in.

The thanks first and foremostly must of course go to ONNY for arranging this whole thing. When i contacted him about a month ago asking about the possibility of setting up a gathering for us northern bums to attend I had no idea it was going to turn out to be something on the size and scale of what happened. The man pretty much forgoed sleep for the weekend to look after us, and I'll always appreciate it.
(Oh yeah he's pretty good at vf too. Beating, nay, beastingme in our first to five.)

Knee - Pesky ninja. I'm honestly not sure who came out on top on our (nor nearly) many (enough) fights throughout saturday but I have the sneaking suspicion it was you. But hey

Your stepping was really impressive actually, made me want to work on my input skills, your akira was just plain fearsome as always.

yinka - Ah man your kage was great, I'm pretty certain you won like 99% of our kage mirror matches. Must practice more. /versus/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Jide - Only got to play you a few times /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif which is probably my biggest regret of the gathering actually. It was clear to see that you were much stronger than gamefocus days though and I AIN'T PLAYIN THIS GAME NO MORE MAN will live forever in our memories.

Ollie - Warned you I am a shun specialist /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif You seemed to be having an off day all in all but you still managed to give me a run for my money in those last few games on saturday. All in all great seeing you again and it's a shame pat couldn't come.

Ryan - 100 wins. One HUNDRED wins. As I slowly get better and better at vf it seems like I'm able to understand that you're even farther ahead of me than I previously thought. Seems like everyone always goes on about how strong you are and not what a fucking hilarious sense of humour you have though. Reducing us all to stitches many times over the course of saturday. On a more personal note thanks for playing me a good few times in the living room when everyone else was too tired, even though I'm pretty sure it must have been fairly boring to beast me over and over without really having to try. /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Hatim - "WHERE'S HIS NES? WHERE'S HIS MEGADRIVE?" Between that and your jeffry impression I think you managed to officially put my health in danger I was laughing so hard. Thanks for teaching me a few Aoi things I was previously uaware of, and well less thanks for kicking my kage's ass with her /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif And seriously thanks for what you said to us before you left, it was a great compliment and we were honoured.

Jun - Seemed to get better and better as the night went on. At one point Knee, Jun and I were playing musical chairs on one set up and then as things went on it was suddenly just Knee and I doing the getting up and switching. I think it goes without saying as well, but best team partner ever!

BK - Don't think I got a chance to play you. It's a shame as cause when I really started getting semi decent at vf, your wolf was always one of the characters I liked to watch in videos.

Jason - I did pretty well in our matches just before the tourny and then you went and turned it on, giving me the loss you needed to go through insteaad of me. /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif I wish 'd paid more attention to your matches actually, as Lau is a character I'm always trying to learn a little.

G-Ho Again too few games. It's a shame you had to head off early. Now I see why everyone complains about that single swallow kick nonsense though. /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Ok I really hope I didn't miss anyone out, but if I did rest assured my memory is fine, I jsut didn't like you. /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif No seriously it was a long weekend and my mind is still suffering a little.

Graeme and Andy (and maybe even myself) - Good stuff overcoming exceptional amounts of tiredness to show that hailing from north of london maybe doesn't mean we are completely shit and hopeless by default. It's obvious we still have a lot further to go though. I only wish Li could have come. /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Other highlights.

The singles tourny: Ryan going all the way with Goh, and that one shining moment after the finals first match where some of us actually thought knee the underdog could do it.

The Prize ceremony. Words can't ever do it justice so I'm not even going to try. You had to be there.

Northern impressions:

Faded: Very knowledgable Kage and very very solid, to be honest couldn't work you out, only way I had a chance was to play the waiting game, attacking against you was a nightmare!

Stroppa: One of the best, if not the best Lei's I've played, (Hentai Monk/mark take note use more moves setups from stance /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif ) I wanted to play you more maybe in the future!

Elite: Man who would have thought someone on a pad without shortcuts would be so damn solid, in play and execution, credit to you! /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif See you at the Manchester meet!

 

good session, had a few good matches but realise i really need to improve my other VF skills or lack of such as defensive and throw escapes. Nice playing against the northern VF'ers and hope to play you guys agian in manchester.
Oh i just heard pais been weakened, darn i think im gonna cry, swallow kick as mid, her + sweep conisderably slower in execution and recovery plus range is alot less., 2 moves I more or less abuse to death. I just hope her new moves are like sumthin spectacular. Well Thank god vanessa powered up considerably.

 

oh man, I was going to post impressions earlier, but I've just been so tired trying to recover from what is possibly going to be the greatest VF session I'll ever attend.

I won't really single out anyone for special attention, because you guys all know you're good and you don't need me to tell you that. I had a great time, and I managed to play everyone except Prince Hatim I think. The tournament was great fun, and the team tourney was quality, I missed most of the final because I was playing Gee-Ho on the other machine /versus/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
You guys all made me feel quite welcome, which is important to me, because I'm generally quite a quiet person around new people, but I felt good and my play reflected that at times I think.

Onny, thanks so much for letting us come down and play some games with you and for making us tea and for having a quality brad and for letting me beat it several times /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif So many things to thank you for, you were an amazingly cool guy, and cheers for letting me kip on someone's bed for a couple of hours, I really needed that badly.

Also...Jide, sorry about the last minute PES3 corner kick tactics... /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Your reaction the 2nd time was just too funny. Next time we can play a real game...WE8 perhaps.

North bums - You guys were cool, and a VF skills to match I am very impressed. My only regret is the amount of games we had, not enough!

Faded, nice seeing you again you dirty sneaky scot. Your kage is filth (in a nice way) you have improved so much since we last played. It shows you can come far with few comp but dedicated and good comp. Quality over quantity.

Elite, nice meeting you /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif your kage is bloody filth as well and i was mightily impressed with some of the stuff you could pull off with a pad especially Akira. And sorry i did badly in a team tourney, i guess my wolf isnt there yet! shoulda chosen kage as i first suggested. I feel like i let the team down, boo me /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

South bums - too many to name, you know you are all TINGS at VF and you guys were saying bare tings with your mains, nuff said /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif. Special mention to Ryan Hart for streaking us 100 wins, I feel ashamed to say that tbfh, hehe.


I hope FT makes it to ps2 next year so i could still be involved with uk VF scene (vf scene is priceless tbh), because this year i have to concentrate on my uni stuff last year and all, so i'm pretty much finished with evo. Though having said that squeezing couple of sessions here and there for fun wouldnt do much harm i'm sure. I know i'll eat my words.

BK: well it depends if the matches are realistic, or that a good thing happened, its not really fair if you put a match up of say Edward beating Dai, when the norm would be viseversa, if u really want to put somingthing up talk to ryan and get his "diago-esqe comeback" his akira vs colombos jacky!
