After playing all the different characters on the game for the past year i have really began to wonder:
Do heavyweights actually suffer a tangible disadvantage based on their weight that warrants them getting their advantage in damage reduction via the float game?

From my experience they do not. I can't say that aoi has some tangible advantage based on her being a light weight that should result in her losing extra damage to so many combos.

Now i do see there being a reason, as far as gameplay phsyics, for larger characters to float less. But it seems that there should be alternate combos to use on them that does equal damage to the lightweight counterparts.

Of course i could be wrong. But from my experience it seems like the heavier a character gets it is simply advantageous to the character with no drawbacks.

Only tangible disadvantage Jeff and wolf have that I can think of, is the slowest basic punch. But Aoi also has same speed punch too, and Aoi is possibly the most easily comboable character in the game due to her size and weight.

Sometimes a heavyweight can recieve a good combo depending on the foot position.

They maybe gave Aoi a slower punch because of her reversal capabilities, as well as having low throws, too.
    But then there's Pai... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif

    Pai's reversal/inashi abilities don't even compare to Aoi's.

I think that in general, the lighter the character the more damage they can receive when comboed. However, the hitboxes of some characters sometimes allow for more damaging combos on them than on lighter weight characters.

Heavyweights receive much less damage on average from combos than lightweights. Even the few wacky justframe combos that I know of, are usually middleweight-specific, not heavyweight.
