Ok we will leave the playstation2 out of this debate as only someone insane or is a sony fan boy would deny that it has the worst most blurry graphic out of the current consoles.

I rember certain people here being real experts on hardware and knew the in's and outs. How many polygons a second a console can shit ect.... I remver reading interesting things about the model 4 acarde hardware.

I am having a debate with a freind. I think the X box can push more polygons. While the gamecube has smoother textures. I think the gamecube has better graphics becuase of that then. As the n64 could only push about half of the playstation one, but as it had that texture smoothing effect that i cant rember the name of it looked a lot better. Not saying the diffrence is that bad between the Gamecube and X Box, but there is one. My freind denys this totally though and he says he doesnt notice the diffrence. Can anyone throw some light on this subject, could be interesting.

In theory the XBox, by a long way. In actuality, the GC is a lot close. Is it really all that important? /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Are you SURE we need another console vs console thread on VFDC? There are literally hundreds of threads on this topic in other forums - and even some in this one - why create another? It will just turn into a flame war, sooner or later.

MY PC but I don't count my PC as a console cos I rarely plays games on it, although I was thinking about getting half life 2 and maybe Halo if I'm bothered.

X-box specs are the most powerful but I've yet to see that console really push the graphics. From the specs I've read about X-box, it can do ALOT more than what I've seen so far. Game Cube is 2nd spec wise but it has the nicest graphics IMO. PS2 can achieve wicked graphics depending on how experience the programmers are. N64 is not a console to talk about pretty graphics, so blurry and ugh.

But overall!!! graphics don't bother me, I want my game play.

    Games maketh the console.

In which case, the Dreamcast is the best. /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

To answer your question - look at any game that comes out on xbox, gamecube and, ps2 - xbox always has the best looking version. Xbox has the best graphics capability, which I believe is what your really asking.

The phantom is better than your PC BMF.

Depends on BMFs PC - the Phantom is a fairly pathetic spec.

any console can push out A LOT, as long as the programmers have their minds set. Take Hideo Kojima's team--working on mgs3--the graphics look insane. also look at tecmo, and their ninja gaiden game.

p.s. ps2 has vector units (which is something not used by many programmers today, except for maybe konami, and the makers of jak 2), basically, power is needed to be "squeesed" out of the system, to create very nice looking graphics.

working with x-box and gamecube is a lot easier for the programmers., xbox prob wins tho

Not starting a console war. I not looking for fanboys bitching about why the other console sucks. Perhaps every X Box game i have seen has been a crappy multi console port? Not saying that all X box games are like that just saying i been unlucky with the ones i have seen. It has been ages sinced i played Halo but it doesnt look like something the gamecube have problems with. I just find talking about specs fairly interesting. My guess is that the x box would have better graphics if really pushed compared as it would use the hardrive for RAM memory to load games up into. Could be totally wrong though

There are other issues with the Xbox - due to it having an all in one AV socket which switches mode depending on what's plugged into it the video output quality is inferior to most other machines (it doesnt do any one mode really well - it just does them all "ok", it's RGB component out is weak)
Games like Panzer Dragoon Orta are seriously let down by this - especially when you are used to a pin sharp display from other machines. The first machines were REALLY bad, it has been remedied in later revisions (but it's still not as good as the Megadrive, Saturn or DC)

I'm not into tech specs even in the slightest - there are so many issues to take into consideration and it's not worth bothering.

People ignored the Dreamcast cos it was "Inferior" to the PS2......that way of thinking is just so damn stupid - if you think the Xbox is the best console simply because it has the highest tech spec you are seriously misguided. Right now you have 3 machines catering for a variety of tastes, none of them are "inferior" to the other just as the Dreamcast (speaking as a gamer not a tech head) was in no way inferior to the PS2.

The Xbox has the best graphics, but some of the drivces don't work correctly, if you ever buy one ask for one with the Thomphson Drive it should be recognisabel because it has 2 holes on the disk stray.
