What controller? How do you deal with crappy dpad?

I want my PS2 pad back! Seriously, I miss so many moves because of the crappy d-pad.

What controller do you use? Should I get the arcade stick? I don't have any arcades nearby - not with VF and VF players at least, and I'm afraid I'd suck with it. This is based on my short-lived experience of trying to use the stick on my Xbox controller - it's worse than the d-pad except for stuff like Wolf's big throws.

Is an arcade stick different/easier because you use your whole hand? Are there any good alternative pads that have more of a PS-style d-pad?

Get a stick, don't worry if you're not that used to them. I got used to mine in a few days and I haven't had much experience with sticks.
