This thread is intended to help people out in situations where one or both of the players starts to low punch each other. Getting hit by a low punch is dagerous because it can lead to more low punches, or a low or normal throw. Please share your idea and/or tactics on what to do in this situation. /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif

block the low punch, crouch dash away from it, side step in certain instances, find the characters that have low punch counters, aoi, wolf, akira, or low punch sabakis: sarah and vanessa. Don't retalitate with a low punch after an opponent low punches, it could be bait.

I like to reverse the lp, b/c most people throw it out there instinctively. Without really realizing that they're doing it. Once you make them realize, then they hesitate and start making mistakes. muahahaha

The ability to punish low P is what seperates intermediate players and advanced players in my mind. As Akira, I like to crouch dash backwards when I think it's coming and SPOD the whiffed low P. That'll make them think about mindlessly mashing it again (hopefully, anyway). For characters with low throws, just CD backwards and low throw them etc.

Usually, I can read the low punch before it hits me so either counter hit with a medium attack to get mc or with Aoi just counter the hell out of you LOL!! /versus/images/icons/tongue.gif

W/ Aoi's [P][P][P], a low punch will whiff 9 times out of 10 --- just throw in a low throw right afterwards... that'll make 'em think twice. If they do a LOT of low punches, just start randomly low throwing... any normal person would stop. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

GaijinPunch brings up a good strategy which many can benefit from. Find a move with enough push back such that the opponent's low punch will whiff, and followup accordingly with a good mid attack or low throw if you have one. This strategy has been widely used since VF2 as far as I can remember, and is just as viable today.

The key in dealing with low punches is to check whether it hit, whiffed or was guarded, which in turn dictactes what you can and cannot do as a followup. Do not blindly low punch everything in return. It looks ugly, and will get you nailed for being predictable against good players. Watch a few movies while observing how people react when they've lost initiative might be helpful too.

The quicker you are at hit-checking, the better you'll be able to deal with low punches. Same theory applies to high punches, and most attacks in general.

I guess it depends the char u're using, personnaly I tend to LP back until I watched some movies featuring japaneese players. I noticed how often they CD backwards after a blocked LP or after they LP their opponent .
For example Lion's Chibita often go for LP, CD back, [8]+[K],[K], which I tried and is very effective and damaging /versus/images/icons/grin.gif
    Now I use it a LOT /versus/images/icons/tongue.gif

And get punished for doing so becouse a masher has no flow to his game?
A lowpunch can stop the ALMIGHTY SPOD, so youre ADVANCED PLAY doesnt seem all that advanced at all, especially since you admit to the following (hopefully, anyway). immediatly as well.
Iff youre tactic is so good against MINDLES MASHERS why should you even HOPE they wont low punch again?
After all if its such a good tactic you would want them to use it so you can punish em and make em feel like the worthless maggots they are.

    Almaci, you need to chill.

Shou mention SPODing a whiffed low punch. That's good play.

You're saying a low punch will beat a SPOD (assuming they start at the same time), which is true because it's faster, but is not what Shou was talking about.

If low punch gets blocked, that gives the opponent +3

advantage( correct me, If I am wrong.) So, I try to do

anything comes out fast when I block low punches

because some ppl love to use low punches a lot and

keep low punching even though one gets blocked.

With Akira, I do DE, SDE, forward Punch, evade attack

, or last but not least low punch /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif.

Low punches aren't a big deal esp when you are playing against someone who knows the game well enough. A good player will know the recoveries on his own moves as well as his opponent, and should know when a LP is instinctive to use, and punish it accordingly.

Personally, I use the HP more than the LP because it gives so much better options on MC. I'd rather evade an attack rather than stop it with LP... technically you have more advantage if you MC evade something anyways (from my experience).

About the only time I'd use LP is when it's *guaranteed* to stop something and its the best option... for me this is usually my way of stopping circular attacks, which IMO are not abuseable therefore infrequent.

Last but not least, depending on LP to save your ass is kinda scrubby I think, and if you abuse it you deserve to get punished nastily (which is easy to do, thank god). /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Get to the point in your game that you actually want the player to Lp, Drule over the Lp....Own that lp! Be the lp! later

The answer is simple: block/reversal/backdash and/or low throw/do a LP urself, evade. Even the simplest question can create such confusion.. A single LP coming from nowhere is undoubtly a difficult move to block, but of course that if you're meaning consecutive LPs, there are many solutions.. I usually do LP, P P, and LP again to confuse.

PS: Pardon me, but that IS an idiotic question. /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

meh, as wolf, an SK is best after i backdash an anticipated low[P], then again, wolf's side kick probably the best for any whiffed attack since it has so much distance, and you get a knock down. the toe kick stunner would be better, but it covers less distance, so your spacing has to be pretty accurate.

close range, if i know it's gonna come, i quickly either low [P] reverse, or comet hook to get a lovely crouch stagger, if i'm feeling lucky, i surprise them with an immediate GS, if i sense that they stay in high blocking, after the stagger then i catch! /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

nowadys i just stick with the ol screw hook to get a guarenteed double hit as they crouch.

All of you have it wrong, you get hit by low punch and cry at your opponent as towards why this game sucks and request that you put in SC2/Tekken instead "laughs heartily" and if you believe this post, I've got a car to sell you.

I forgot, you all should do the professional thing like Minima Kage and low punch 8 times in a row (heheheheheheheheheheheheheheeheheheheheh)
