imagine if Hollywood & Japan co produced would make a movie based on the Sega video game series Virtua Fighter with all the characters to be featured in the film and a fictional city called Virtua City in Japan. It will be run by J6.
Virtua Fighter movie will be an action pic set in the future where all fighters join together to fight worldwide and to save the world from evil Dural & to get to the final boss, one of those fighters must defeat Akira Yuki first before going against the final boss. Year is 2098.
My ideas is that Jackie Chan would make a good Lau Chan and
Kimbo Slice as Jeffry McWild, Scott Adkins as Brad Burns and Simon West to write and direct and it doesn't matter who produces it. I would love to play either Kage Maru or El Blaze because those are my most favorite characters that I can fit to. I will take an acting class this fall. I'd like to star in some movies based on video games. That would be Really cool. Budget: $75 million will work.

To be honest I always thought VF had as good a chance at being a good video game based movie as MK was.
People complain VF story is bland and boring I say these people just don't understand the story. each character has his/her own unique back story that if people just took the time to look it up and read about it they would know the storyline is as great as the games Fighting mechanics.

Every now and then I fantasize of a VF movie although if I were to make the movie, it would be called: Virtua Fighter: The Bryant Legacy, focuses mainly on Sarah as well as her brother, and Vanessa, as it starts similar to what I know of the anime where Sarah was always in her brother's shadow, she gets kidnapped at age 17, brainwashed, and then try to murder Jacky through the first VF tournament; then gets rescued by her. The whole movie would be of her trying to stop J6 while trying to regain her memories all the while being pursued by her brother and bodyguard Vanessa. She fights other VF characters, and J6 manages to create an evil clone of her called, "Sarah X" who is the doppelganger to her. Of course she IS NOT Dural. Dural would fight in the last battle against Sarah, Jacky, Kage, and possibly also Sarah X now helping out with the battle. I know it would be criticized by fans mainly focusing on the Bryants but if I could I would create other VF movies that take place at the same time but focuses on other characters mainly for fanfare.

Also I think it was Electronic Gaminng Monthly or some game magazine that had something called "Dream Cast" in which they would fantasize up a cast of real life actors for a game to film adapation including VF and Metroid.

For the music, I would suggest something like Heavy Metal, Hard rock, Rap/hip hop, Techno, Trance, electronica, hardcore punk (not sure if hardcore rock stuff will work), metalcore, Drum N' Bass, Screamo, Video gaming music in general, Electronic Rock combined w/ hardcore rap, punk rock, Post Hardcore, Speed Metal, Trash metal & Power Metal...... something fast, & more. Is that a good Idea or no? Why is that? Thanks.

It really isn't. It's one of the worst out there. Most fighting games have terrible stories and VF is no different. It's even worse than Tekkens, which is saying something.

they should make a movie but kage would have to be the main char simply cause hes a ninja and ninjas are cool. sorry to metion tekken but the movie was half decent i enjoyed it better than doa and street fighter. the only other fighter game to movie adaption was mortal kombat whitch was also ok. cmon sega make vf movie. another thing make it in two parts cause with other movies they try and sqeeze every char storyline in one movie, if they did it in two parts (kill bill anybody?} it would be awsome, well it would be awesome anyway if one was made.

The only way "Virtua Fighter the live action movie" would be watchable would be if it was made into a pr0n.

    (Should leave out Eileen though.)

But then it may still need a better story than what we have.

On a more serious note: All you fifteen year olds/newbs who just found this site must understand that the old farts here all went through this juvenile idea before--like back in the last century when we still thought the movies like the Blood Sports were cool. It may still be possible to make a fighting game movie that's half way entertaining. But that still doesn't make it a good idea.

One of the better ideas: Still getting bad reviews.

I don't know about all that, but I do like the storyline, unlike most. What makes it appealing to me is how subtly it's presented. It doesn't smack you over the head with an over-the-top story, but instead allows you to pay attention to it only if you care about it. I like how easily you can interpret the events between the scripted story as it's presented in the game manuals and character profiles.

Some might call it generic; I say it's open-ended enough to place ourselves within our preferred characters and flesh out the story's nuances with IMAGINATION!

I believe VF storyline has potential to become a good one. It needs to be developed more, some fixs here and there. What makes more difference is "how" you tell a story, not always "what" you tell.

Exactly my point. At the same time, though, I honestly hope they don't put too-too much effort in developing the storyline past character relationships (i.e. that between Lau and Pai), or adding characters who have some connection to existing ones (such as Lei-Fei and Eileen). As I've said, I appreciate its subtlety, so I don't want them to get ahead of themselves with it, of course.

The Quest is a great movie. I like the fact that its just a tournament setting so we can see lots of fighting. Same with Bloodsport.

I thought Dead or Alive and Tekken were pretty good movies since they had good fight scenes and the stories were good enough to go from one fight to the next. What else do we really need in a movie about a fighting game? Even Mortal Kombat was the same with a tournament story.

Whenever they try to actually make a "real" movie out of a fighting game we end up with things like Street Fighter and King of Fighters.

If they were to make a VF movie they should just have J6 hold a tournament to test fighters to copy their fighting styles so they can implement them into Dural. Most of the fighters would just be there for the prize money, Kage would be looking for his mother and Sarah could be a high priority target for some reason they could make up.

This way they would have a good reason to make the movie about Sarah. I would guess this would be the easiest sell since they could use sex appeal with Sarah.

I'm sure I can come up with something better. I'll post it if I think of something.

Jeffry should be the main character of the movie if they ever made one.

With the little story and background info to the characters VF has, i'd imagine whoever got do the movie could just run wild with it.

I'm not a fan of Dead or Alive and Tekken movies, same with SF the movie even though it's good for a laugh. The first Mortal Kombat movie was good stuff , I have fond memories of seeing it at the cinema with my step dad when it was released and I still have a soft spot for the movie now.

I can't really imagine what a VF movie would be like. There was a thread here from a while ago that had good suggestions as to which actors should play the VF characters though [IMG]

    LoL.

The name Virtua Fighter is silly now though. You couldn't call the film that. It'd probably put off more people than it attracted. Actually, the same might be said of the game.

Call it Zombie Fighter. Have items which make the characters look like zombies. Only have them in the zombie costumes on the box.

Instant boost to sales. That would help the game sell and a movie. There's no in game storyline anyway so no one would ever be able to tell.

This is what I have been saying for a long time. The name "Virtua Fighter" is crap. It has been hurting the game for a long time. The word "Virtual" stopped being cool around the time "Information Super Highway" bit dust. Perhaps even before that? Not to mention it's inaccurate. There is nothing "virtual" about virtua fighter. It's just a polygon game, and there are billons of them out there now unlike in 1994.
