What is the likelyhood... (a modest proposal)

Now in all the current evo, pre-ft hype though we are the vf die hards, none of us have addressed the unfortunate possibility that for the mean time is the unfortunate likelyhood of Virtua Fighter Final Tuned not being released in America. Just getting it on console would be good and something I feel worth striving for but...

Now bear with me here for a moment as I explain my reasoning, the Namco scene is dying out as those who played Tekken 4 at one point realize how bad it is, and those that play Soul Calibur 2 while still playing for fun find themselves struggling for a game with depth (resulting in several converts). Now in the wake of this and the currently overpowering Namco arcade scene in the US, now would be an ideal time for the sega arcade scene in america to sprout. Note that the VF franchise is FAR from the only game that sega has under their belt (alot of which never sees american shores) and if DDR has taught us nothing, it's that, if a game doesn't NEED to be translated before being brought over, then american audiences just don't care. Gaming is becoming more mainstream (whether for better or worse) but it just needs some guidance so that it can know in which direction to go. I say we do everything in our power to get it to where it needs to be.

You can easily help out by dishing out some money and buy a cabinet from japan and convince your local arcade to share the floor space. Maybe if it really DOES make money, it'll change people's minds. If not, you can always just take it home and have your own freeplay Final Tuned cabinet to play with.

That was kind of my sarcastic way of saying "your efforts are futile"

speaking of futile, there is an interesting paradox to VF...it attracts older players in the united states, yet most players tend to stop playing after their college/graduate school years...

It's interesting that americans feel compelled to quit doing things that they did when they were young all because they have "outgrown" it in their minds. As far as the arcade principal, argue the logic that in Japan, arcades draw nearly 50% of the income sega makes in a year (from the arcade machine sales, and the revenue from the gaming centers themselves) and though ppl argue about how spread out the "good gamers" in america are, tell me that people in america wouldn't benefit from an infusion of non-scrub gaming (we are not simply for the game we play insist that u not be). If that were the case and people who would turn their noses down at it, come to the arcades to have fun, chill, drink and game some. Arcades still do well in college towns and think about the number of big college towns in america. ALOT but once again, a modest proposal to try and get arcades in america again, I support them, but of course, one man can only do so much /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif.

I got yo back, Sean! As for buying an arcade cabinet. If it isn't coming to America, and the business is doing well. I would sure as hell buy a cabinet.

I understand where sumeragi is comin from but whose to say that u can't have your cake and eat it too. If I limited myself at ANY point in time, I know it would just mean I'm bein less than I could be.

Please lead the way into expanding the VF scene in the US. Don't limit yourself!! Get a loan from the bank and buy a cabinet for all of us on vfdc! You can do it!!
