What is the point of these moves????

I'm looking at you /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif and akira standard /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif. I never see these used in videos mid competition. Are they Akira's only two useless moves (out of a very SELECT few moves that he has total)?

Also, is it even worth it to use Akira's knee instead of Yohou (except when opponent is falling to the ground from wall hit)? It is only one frame faster, and I guess it is only p hit punishable as opposed to yohou... and can't be sabaki'd... are those the reasons?

I havent figured out a way to use /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif. It seems as if it has some evasive properties but since it only knocks down and doesnt allow a combo its pretty pointless.

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif Its for 'newbie' combos I think. Its ok to use it if you cant do more damaging followups. I don't really use either of these moves.

Knee I use a lot in certain nitaku situations where the 1 frame makes the difference in speed. Ps. Knee can be sabakied by several characters.

Manji, you tore me apart when we played. I would love to get more games in with you and see how I should really be playing Akira. Which situations would the 1 frame ever be relevant in terms of nitaku? Are talking about off of +8/+7 situations? Because normally a smart opponent wont do a jab. They will either do something that will beat the clash (slow knee) or a fast 2p/low, in which case the one frame is irrelevant.

Well you get a 'fake' knee/throw nitaku at +5 against non-10framers (fake in the sense that it can be fuzzied, but if opponent does that then he is being predictable and you can do anti-fuzzy stuff).

My favorite place to use knee is after /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif counterhit. Youd be surprised how many people try to punch their way out of that, especially Pai and the like.

And don't go discounting stuff on the assumption that opponent always plays smart. I have a bad tendency to think ahead of myself as well. Just use what works on the basis of what you see, not on basis what you 'think' opponent will do before even doing it once.

A lot of good opponents abare a lot. Which is where knowing the frameadvantages and evasive properties, in addition to the important basics comes to play to counter that.

ps. All of us suck at this game anyway /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif I know I do hehe.

I think /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is used to stuff your opponents moves from mid range. I also noticed it's good against jumping attacks. Like if you throw it out when you think a Kage player might do that forward flipping jump kick (looks like M. Bison's double /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif) it smacks them out of the air before his feet come around. Just by the way it animates it looks like it's for stuffing jumping attacks. It's not that bad cause it kind of puts a wall of hands between you and your opponent... Not sure just my humble opinion.

Characters such as Eileen's shoulderam, Lei's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif can go 'under' yoho where they can't vs knee. In the heat of a battle, its hard to do a perfect yoho as you tend to lose 1 frame from the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif motion and end up doing a 19 frame yoho. A good example is after guarding Brad's sweep which has exactly a 18 frame recovery.

You can't buffer it to come out at the earliest possible moment? No one can input /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif in one frame. That's only a 60th of a second. I'm confused by what you said but I would like to know what you mean if you can explain it a little further.

Or do you mean that you lose the frame cause you start to crouch dash???

    Thanks

It's still possible to buffer perfectly in the heat of battle. It's just harder than the knee.

I feel that doing a knee in that case and punishing other similar sweeps is better, because with knee you get a higher minor(recovery) counter float because of the extra frame, and therefore bigger combo I think.

Still there are times when yoho will do the job nicely, but situationally knee is still better.

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif>/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif>/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif (last one might hit once because the opponent is sitting there going WTF?!)

I still think it's for smacking Kage out of the air when he does that one move where he front flips and kicks you. It's a highly specialized move that is to be used only against Kage to counter that one move. Anyway I'm pretty sure that's what AM2 intended it for... Very, very useful!

The move ends crouching and seems to cover range better than his dashing elbows so striking a crouching character at distance with it isn't a bad idea when the elbow could fall short.

It could've been a fluke, but I hit a sidestepping foe with it [stepped toward my back]

He probably pressed something after the evade (doing that makes attacks "track").

  17. I don't think /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif is useless at all...

ina combo you can reach good damage with a mere /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif

How is it newbie? what makes using /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif to finish a combo any less newbish?

We all can't do a buffer double Palm all the time...

It only does 2 points less damage than the DblPlm too.

2 points is the difference between winning and losing in high level fights were the matchups are too f'in close...

I'd learn to button buffer that dblplm if I wanted to 'perfect' my game...

You're talking to some one who definitely wants to perfect his game! What is button buffer? I know what buffering is but what is button buffering???
