What the hell is going on?

Every so often I log on to Xbox Live and play a few games online. Today I was unable to do it as the damn thing was only finding people in USA/Canada or Japan/Korea. Why the frig does the game even bother searching for such opponents? I wouldn't mind if the game kept saying that no opponents were available as the message usually appears pretty quick, instead each time I searched it took about 30 seconds and then displayed about 3 players from Japan and Korea with a grey connection logo. After about 20 minutes I managed to get 4 games - 2 lag fests in America, 1 flickbook mess from a Japanese player who joined me like a twat and 1 ok game.

Sometimes this is just unplayable thanks to the lengthy pointless searches it does. It never used to be like this.

Finding opponents around the UK and Europe in the middle of the afternoon is impossible now thanks to the game searching the masses playing overseas at night. This game needs an update which blocks the game searching anyone with a grey connection speed (or at least add a DOA online style option to only search a certain area or connection speed).

I hope it doesn't turn away the greys. A lot of them for me are great, playable matches. Like against SSJS and many Japanese players. Get better internet. Sorry.

If you think SSJS is a great player, maybe you should rethink. Personally, I think it's a waste of time playing the guy. He just does the same Kage setups over and over and he needs distance to do it. Close the gap on him and he just crumbles and can't even put up a fight unless you count the barrage of LOW PUNCHES as an offense so he can get you off his back to create space so he can enter Kage's stance to run his repetitive offense all over again.

yea forgot about that... fucker pulled on my a few times, so you know what I pulled one on him last week. I was hosting a match as Master with Eileen and he joined and during the 5 round right when he TFT me. I PULLED! Not proud of it, but fuck him. Serves him right for pulling on me like 2-3 times. He doesn't deserve master rank. I noticed 2 days ago he was hosting matches as Master and last night he was back down to 9th Dan. Personally I don't even think he deserves to be that high. Only person worse is Seijuro Hiko666 or what ever his name is. Fighting this guy is like fighting in quick sand. The matches are sooooooooooooooooooooo laggy and he spams like 109582935820358091850913590193850193 low punches in a row. How can you fight that when you can't even cut in with a low punch of your own when you guard his. You input dodge and because of the lag you get nothing. And since you released guard to dodge you end up getting hit by a random move if he did one or you get a random throw. I am amazed that this guy can play so well under these conditions. If the game moving fine for him while it's slow for us, or has he just perfected the art of lag fighting?

yeah lol ssjs is notorious for being a crap player poor dude doesn't change. I see alot of high ranks there now that do not deserve to be there.
I think a simple patch to choose region search would be easy enough.

I said "great, playable matches", not great players. I meant it purely as someone I recall always having grey boxes, but it is always a great connection.

Yeah... he said SSJS matches were lag-free, not that he's good.

And, I agree... I've played many, many nearly lag-free matches with japanese and such, where I had a grey box when I selected the player. If you're really having that much trouble with laggy games, it's probably your own connection.

Konjou san, I dont like saying this but I hate that guy. I hate any Akira spammer. I must have lost to him 20 times. Those low punch to DblPlm ers piss me off. It took quite some time for me to figure out that I coudnt dodge because of lag, or reversal or low punch or high counter punch his ass. Has no movement or respect for anything you try because his moves comming out anyway. Further more it takes time for block to register against that guy. Ive played some people tho' who have a grey bar and the connection was real nice. I lost to a 8th kyu Lau last night named bibibi bikutoru. Used Lau and slowed the game down as if he was waiting for me to screw up. Anyway it seemed suspicious to me and I just went to his gt and it all in Japanese. So I know also that there' out there.
Dont hate the player....Hate the game homie

What the hell are you talking about? You hate Konjou because he spams? Doesn't sound like the Konjou I know.

I don't think he has trouble against SSJS (only when he was Eileen). Dude just doesn't deserve the rank he has because he sucks. I don't have trouble against him either as I've beaten him numerous times. It's just a majority of people fall for his tricks w/c are the same.

SSJS has been on my "avoided" list for a long time. I think I actually gave him a player review "avoid -- lacks skill".

Annoying when I end up having to play against him because I'm spamming on the button for "similar ranking" match...

    Best,

I don't mean to sound arrogant or rude. If you're from America and you actually think you're having "lag free" matches with the Japanese then that means most likely you don't fully understand VF to know that it's lagging or not. The game seems to be running somewhat smooth when playing them but thats because the Japanese don't rely on dirty tricks. For example when playing that 666 guy its hard to tell that its lagging until you realize that you cant counter the low punch after the 5th one. It's odd cause the matches doesn't seem like its lagging but in reality the lag is definitely there its just easier to tell when people play dirty.

^I second what Denkai said here. I run off an 8MB connection, and no match I've seen with Japanese players is remotely playable. It's a shame, I wish it wern't the case, but until connections get universally better on average, it will remain that way.
