I've been reading a lot of stuff lately on how the VF scene it dying down across the world. It's a shame that people don't see how great VF5 is. Now I know some of us hate Tekken, but seriously, with Tekken being so popular everywhere do you think a potential VF vs. Tekken game could give VF a needed push to get more followers?

Would this be more of a benefit to the series or not? Fighting games are slowly making their way back into the scene and I think with SF4's release getting so much attention I think the genre could make it's way back into mainstream. Tekken 6 console release isn't coming until the end of the year, so a possible VF vs Tekken game would be waaaaay down the line. But with there being no mention of VF5:R to consoles at all, where does this leave the series as a whole? If a VS game would make VF more popular in the fighting game scene I'd be all for it.

And how would you want to mix Tekken's and VF's gameplay?
The only thing that they could do would be to import characters to another game and adapt them to the system.
I don't care about playing VF characters in a tekken gameplay, and they would never import tekken character into VF cause Tekken players won't play it.
    No solution imho

We don't know what people would play. I'm sure people would check it out. I think they could just make it to where there would be two different modes.

people seem to look at games like cvs and think that all crossover fighters will be as immensely popular.

vf vs tekken would be more like sengoku basara x.

The only...ONLY to do it was to make a completely different game then both of those games and then just transpose the characters into that engine. It wouldn't be Tekken or VF.

Doing "modes" like in 2D VS games or such wouldn't work, both games just works too differently.

Not necessarily immensely popular, but more popular then it is now. I'm not saying that it would be the best game ever. I'm just saying maybe it would be good for VF's future and VF6.

Yeah. That makes more sense. Maybe they could make a nice balance between the two games and go from there.

I would think something of the lines of mixing the speed of VF with the engine of tekken could work or vice versa....somewhat

Here's the article that I had a found memory about. Basically says that the director's of the two franchises have talked about making a collaboration and says it's essentially up to the fans.

Just like it's up to the fans if VF5:R will be released on consoles...

    LOL yeah.

Difference is VF5:R probably won't be released on consoles because Sega more than likely doesn't think it will be profitable. Even though it would probably sell well if it was released at 20 to 30 bucks...

But a VF vs Tekken game would garner hype and recognition and be pretty big in the fighting genre.

call me a naive optimist, but i think sega's waiting for one of two things before releasing vf5fr.

    1. the console releases of sf4, tekken 6, blazblue, etc.

    and/or

    2. the bugs in vf5r version a to be fixed in version b

I would say it would attract a lot of people to get the game. Since Tekken is popular maybe the players will buy into VF vs. Tekken. I would get the game if it came out. I've been wanting to beat some Tekken players, but then again for the people who hate VF just might not get it since it's VF.

The best case scenario would be VF vs Tekken would improve tekken's gameplay, but destroy VF's.

If you took different aspects or mechanics from each game and mixed them, Tekken would benefit much more. But the entire mentality of the game is just so different. I believe that Tekken is combo based, while VF is mix-up based. Look at the incredibly few number of "punishable" moves in tekken. Its sad. No character in Tekken needs to be vunerable for even a moment if they're being played right.

There's actually quite a few number of punishable moves in Tekken, probably more then in VF.

    Both games are combo based.

IF anything differs, IMO it's that VF is more heavy on close range combat, powerful guessing games and option selects. Tekken is more focused towards movement, spacing and whiff punishment.

Do we know for sure that will be a VF6? If R isn't popular enough to get a console release, would SEGA bother pouring in the cash to make a VF6???

    Just wondering...

Wait a minute, so you're saying that in your opinion having VF5R on consoles is less probable than having VF vs Tekken? Really? Can't agree with you one bit.

As for the games' fighting systems:

I don't know if anyone mention this, but for me it depends on who develops the game.
