I've always liked the Virtua Fighter series as the only 3d fighter for me. the only one Virtua Fighter that i ever got was VF2 though since it came out for the PC. the PC is all i can afford since it is used for everything electronic in my house. i love VF but i can't afford to buy a console. Does anyone know if VF will be released for the PC? How can i petition have it done?

VF2 was the only one released for PC afaik. Maybe VF1 was as well, it can be emulated probably.

VF3 for PC never happened, ditto VF4, and both probably won't happen. Even emulation for those games is a long long time off. I'd save up for a PS2.

i think a VF1 was made for the PC. those are the only two that were made for it. Why wouldn't they bother? i know the fighting genre isn't popular on the PC but all fighting games that were released for PC are frequently played amongst PC gamers. i don't know if it's because they are good are it's because it's all they got, but there are ppl who like PC fighting games as well. i've always respected any developer that dared to challenge the standard and do something unorthodox like releasing a game that isn't going to rely on console power. Other fighting games like the MK series and Guilty Gear X are played religiously by PC gamers even though they are both inferior to Virtua Fighter.
<ul type="square">[*]it doesn't have to be released to great media fanfare. most PC fighting games aren't.
[*]it can take advantage of improved graphics capabilities and online play.
[*]a greater market would be good for the title. MGS2 relalises this.

I don't think the fighting game market for PCs is very big because you have to deal with keyboards or second rate pads, and beyond that internet play will always have the lag issue, which isn't as key in some games as it is in VF. PC VF would just be a clunky replacement for having someone sit on the couch next to you with a PS2, or standing beside someone in the arcade.

Maybe the guys who make the decisions could be made more aware of how popular the combination of emulated 2D fighters + kaillera is though.
2D would translate to any PC.

true, i hate most 3rd party game pads. except for the saitek pads (http://www.saitek.com). I don't think lag would be much of an issue for fighting games since they wouldn't have to transfer as much information as FPSs or MMORPGs. even racing games run well on a 56K connection. Also, since the cost of consumer broadband is steadily dropping this would not be much of an issue. and i personally don't hate the keyboard as a fighting controller (i know i am the only person in the world who feels this way). the online play would expand the capapbilities and depth of the game by tapping into the online gaming culture, something that only a PC can do well right now. the PC can also be utilised in LAN parties which are a LOT of fun. i don't go to arcades anymore, just LAN parties (or sweats as they are called where i'm from) various PC-specific features could be added like a spectator mode and the ability to save and copy replays. it could also take advantage of mod-making, releasing an SDK which allows ppl to add new skins or modes etc. it can only hope to increase the depth of the VF series by utilising the flexibility and depth of PC features

Lag is surprisingly important in most 2D fighters, but it's more towards "I missed my combo" than "I got randomly thrown" as it would be in VF. Contrary to popular belief, fighters CAN be done on a keyboard, it just takes different reflexes (like pad vs. stick). In fact, I'm faster at VF2 for PC than I am in the arcades, because I can use two fingers for doublepalm and three for SPOD /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

Why use three keys for SPoD? You only need two /versus/images/icons/wink.gif

    P+K+G, b,df+P+K, b+P
Directions: define b and df diagonal (left finger)
Buttons: define P+K+G, P+K, and P (right finger)

    Heh.

Whoops. That's two for SPoD and three for doublepalm (two fingers on the numpad = way too easy).
