Which Arcade Fighting Games Attract the Most Female Gamers?

I heard somewhere its

1. Soul Calibur
2. Mortal Kombat
3. Tekken
4. DOA
5. Virtua fighter


I don't know how legit this list is But I do see a pattern here. The more story mode and character back stories the game has the more popular it is with female gamers I suspect the more female gamers a fighting game community has the more the game publisher will listen to the demands of its community

Maybe, that's the reason why Sega/RGG pays no real substantive attention to our VF wish lists. I know the VF community has a few female gamers, but probably not enough to get Sega's attention

maybe we need to start a campaign

 

It's more DOA and then SoulCalibur.
Back during G4 X play Xbox 360 days, alot of young girls took part in DOA4 tournaments. They even showed a few tournaments on G4 too.

 

Not sure but I do not think it matters since the girls that like fighting games - like fighting games. And sadly those that don't will never play them. @masterpo I doubt publishers listen to women per se, but rather the discourse in pop culture.

Nevertheless, I believe we can simultaneously strive to be more welcoming to everyone in society without trying to burn the whole community into the ground with toxicities of all kinds. We are a Broadchurch - let's live and let live.

 

The girls, and women that I run into that play fighting games regularly tend to play 1 of these:

• Soul Calibur
• Tekken
• Mortal Kombat

Occasionally I run into a female that plays, Street Fighter, and once in a blue blue blue moon I run into one that plays Virtua Fighter, but in general its either SC, Tekken or MK. I've heard rumors that DOA has a decent female following, but I've never seen it. And outside of my wife I don't know any females that regularly play VF. I really think story mode and character back stories have a lot to do with it. I don't think its a matter of disrespect from the FG communities.
