I love luchador types like El Blaze, but after doing Judo for awhile I might go back to Goh. He's probably got the most true to life set of grappling moves in any game, it seems like.

    S'why we call him Thundernuts.

I'd have to go with Aoi, since Aikido is probably the one I'd most like to learn in real life. Well, that or Shaolin kung fu. Come to think of it...

Akira's style reminds me of Shenmue (it stated off as a Virtua Fighter RPG or something like that), which I like.

Akira and Aoi. I just really, really like the way they move. With Aoi it's partially because I studied Aikido very briefly, so even though her style isn't modern Aikido it's similar enough that sometimes I recognise a throw here and there and that amuses me.

I like most character-styles in VF. Of course Akiras style is amazingly badass. Shun always cracks me up, I love his drunken style kung fu.

Also Aoi's aikido looks pretty stylish as well!

Yea, all the styles are awesome because AM2 does a godlike job of representing them truly to there style.

Apart from Ninjutsu. I know 2 Ninjutsu students, one of whom is a ni-dan, and I've watched many of their Masaaki Hatsum DVD's (who teaches techniques from 9 different schools) and I can assure you real life ninjutsu has never been acurately represented in any fighting game. For some reason if there's a ninja he has to be back flipping and somersault-kicking his way through the game as if he's performing some kind of gymnastic dispaly. Not the most practical way to fight a battle, especially if you're wearing armour (yes, ninjas wore armour sometimes).

At least Kage doesn't have magic teleportation powers. I think he's the only fighting game ninja who doesn't. And I have to conceed he does have one or two moves and stances that are from real life.

And Jacky and Akira. FS has improved things a lot, but the fact remains the "JKD" seen in pretty much every game is more homage to Bruce Lee than actual representation of the style. Akira animates incredibly better in FS and it actually looks like he's doing Kung Fu, now. Still not as good a representation of the style as Leo (Tekken) imo.

My favourite is Lei Fei. Sure, there's the obvious flashy stuff in all his stances, but what I really like is that he emanates pure strength without looking crude.

Clearly, but alot of his stances are from the disciple. We all know no one is kicking people 12 feet in to the air.

Well yeah I assume nobody would be stupid enough to think that was possible, I wasn't trying to imply anybody here thought Kage was an accurate portrayal of ninjas and their martial arts. And I wasn't even talking about kicking people that high into the air, I never mentioned anyhting like that, I was only talking about his style itself (his move list basically) and how it compares to the more grounded and more accurate portrayals of some of the other martial arts in the game. Hence my "for some reason if there's a ninja he has to be back flipping and somersault-kicking his way through the game as if he's performing some kind of gymnastic dispaly" comment. I wasn't talking at all about the physics relating to what happens to opponants when he hits/throws them. Otherwise you'd have to also talk about how in real life people don't bounce off the floor when you knock them down etc. Kage's style is almost nothing like real ninjutsu at all apart from some stances.

But you'd be amazed at how many people (and again, I'm not talking about VFDC members) think ninjutsu is like it is in movies and games. And again I don't mean the kicking people 12 feet in the air thing, I mean the whole "kung-fu" gymnast aspect. You only have to spend some time watching so-called "ninjutsu" videos on YouTube or Google-ing the word to see what I mean. Fucking Deadliest Warrior had a so called ninjutsu master on the show who, judging from what he was doing, appeared to have confused ninjutsu with kung-fu. And I personally know people who are stupid enough to think that show is both accurate and scientific.

My point, which I didn't get accross at all because I didn't elaborate, was that it's annoying. I'd like for once to see a game where there's a non pop-culture style ninja, then we might start to get away from the popular image of ninjas as back-flipping wizards. And considering how (relatively) realistic and understaded VF is and how well it portrays the various martial arts Kage has always stood out a little to me. I'm disappointed that VF has fantasy ninjutsu like every other game, even if Kage does have stances from the real art (which I did point out in my post that he does).

However, I still like Kage, he is a ninja after all. You can't not like ninjas, even unrealistic ones. It's in our DNA or something.

Edit - I know every other character has some fantasy elements and moves to their style, but Kage probably has the highest amount as well as the most glaryingly obvious ones.

well, i'm going with jacky and brad. jkd and kickboxing are my two favorite fighting styles. i also like karate, so i will definitely try jean.
shun is also fun to watch and play, but i'm always sticking to my somersault-kickin jkd stuff.

Really looking forward to playing with Ms. Bryant. She has been my main female from 4 but I always felt like she was a bit weak. Now with some of her new moves and combos I plan to use her just as much as Wolf. Wish VF had a tag mode. Wolf n Sarah all day.

What makes Leo a better representative of the style?

I'd have to say that I like Akira's style the most. He has the fusion of speed, power, and aesthetics. I also like that he has variation. Not many characters have a guard break, and these are really useful in Final Showdown. I also think that Tekken feels more visceral in the striking except for Akira. His attacks and animations are the best in the game.

Mine is Pai's and Lei-Fei's. Their styles are very complicated (especially Lei's). I like Sarah's too. [IMG]

Well, thought in FS the updated Akira animations now look like the style he's meant to be doing, he's still missing the stances, which just edges Leo ahead imo. Nothing wrong with Akira atm. For the most part he's great. DE and SDE are ridiculous though.
