I'd say Aoi or Pai. The computer never falls for Aoi's mindgames, and Pai has difficulty doing damage with pokes when the computer just blocks and punches (higher kumite levels).

The same with Jacky. I've High King rank for Kage, Jacky, Lau, Sarah, Wolf and Vanessa - and only with Jacky it was more difficult (but not hard - CPU is stupid).

Jacky's gotta be one of the easiest. Only gotta pull off a couple of good floaters a match and he's done.

It's definitely SHUN, w/ Aoi close behind. Some of Shun's best moves are only pulled off by faking out your opponent, and the CPU doesn't fall for it -- same w/ Aoi.

Jacky one of the easiest? Hmmm... For me that was much easier with Kage, Lau, Sarah, Wolf and Vanessa to get HK. Forget about any guessing games with higher ranked CPU players when playing Jacky. I've never played much as Shun/Aoi in VF serie, but I'm sure, that what you are talking is true. But I won't check it - I've all items and HK ranks for all my main characters and far enough of the Kumite - I don't wanna even look at this mode /versus/images/icons/tongue.gif

I'd say Kage,Jacky and Vanessa are the hardest.Jacky is at Dragonlord,Kage is at Thunderlord, and Vanessa is at Stormlord. Those are the hardest characters for me.

I'd have to say Shun is the hardest, followed by Aoi. My Shun is ranked Conqueror right now, so I guess using him in kumite wasn't as hard as I thought.

Definitely Shun. Shun has no real offensive strings that
he can automatically rely on. He has to drink profusely to enable
good damage on his blows, and you'll never GET a chance to drink
against higher level CPU players. If there's a character in VF who
was designed mostly for VS mode, it's Shun.

I'd include Lei Fei, just because of the complication of stances and
his lacking up-close moves. On the flip side, Lei is just so powerful, like
    Shun, when played correctly.

Pai has to be just as difficult to HK. Her lack of power is a
real problem. Speed is nice, but there must be more to Pai than
what I've seen the CPU pull off.

i think pai is the easiest character in kumite her[3]+[P][K]charge move leaves the cpu wide open, and i think the hardest would be akira,im a newbie and cant grasp the complexity of his moves,im still a 1st dan,

I got Kage and Akira to High Kings pretty fast without any probs, But having a hard time with Jacky. Aoi, you can forget about it, i cant get her past first Dan.

My Aoi is a Stormlord at the moment... it's honestly not a huge deal. There are way too many Kumite AI deficiences against Aoi. b,d/f+p, low throw is one, as the Kumite opponents for some retarded reason, NEVER escape low throws. You can just do a f+k,k, too, instead of the low throw. b,b+p+k also works a little too well. YY stance is another big one. u+k+g works against whiffs at a distance, which the Kumite dorks tend to do often. Modified (from crouching dash) D,d/f+p into the hit throw, also work too often. P+K slaps work often. And many Kumite opponnents are really predictable, that is, easy to reverse.

Etc. etc., there are so many AI deficiences against Aoi, that it's hard not to play cheap.

Ranking with Shun is hard, because the CPU is stingy with it's promotions. Winning though, is easy.

The CPU AI falls for stagger combos 90% of the time. It also falls for charge up moves about that often. So all you gotta do is find out what move your character has that either charges and staggers on block, or just staggers on block, then take advantage of their inability to struggle out.

Shun... charge d/f+P+K (juggle with qcf+p or K,K)
Kage... b,f+K (juggle with BT d+k or BT P+K)

The best way to set up staggers is when your opponent techrolls... begin the stagger move almost at the end of the techroll and the CPU will freeze up and block it.

Pretty cheesey, but it's Kumite, and IMO, Kumite is a collection of cheating bastards that deserves to get cheesed.
