    hey.

2 months ago,I sent a letter to Tougeki to make a place for players in the world. As I saw the Tougeki web site today, they will have one place for fofeign players this year. then I got a question.

    who are going there?

AS I think, the strongest player in the US now will be sin' in CA. Second should be maddy. third might be me,but I don't know where they are going to pich up the players. I am thinking only from the US.

this is almost the time to discuss about Tougeki. if you guys... not only from Us, but also from other countries, are interested in Tougeki, please write something. I would like to know European players more, Ogi!

I'd like to recommend Danny13, who IMO is the best Akira I have ever faced in Evo/FT outside of Japan and Korea. My sub characters, such as Jeffry, were almost useless against his Akira.

There are also lots of very, very strong players in Hong Kong and South Korea. Ryan Hart should also be in the conversation for strongest players in Europe.

I thought we already know that the foreign team is the Australian team?

Myke and two other guys from AUS.

I wish more people held local tournaments so we didn't have to pay so much for plane tickets

Tougeki did give the USA official qualifiers (in different locations though) for these following games:

    Street Fighter 3 Third Strike
    Tekken 5 Dark Ressurrection
Hyper Street Fighter 2 (aka AE)
    Soul Calibur 3 Arcade Edition
    Arcana Heart

    Games left out:
Melty Blood Act Candenza Ver. B
    King of Fighters 98
    Virtua Fighter 5

The first two were left out because of lack of players or interest, especially KOF. VF5 has no arcade cabinet outside of japan (console is not acceptable to Tougeki as a qualification format last time I checked). I still don't understand how Austrailia got in unless they have a cabinet or something. But hey they're in so at least one foreign team got in officially.

Everyone, if you are interested in competing in Tougeki Super Battle Opera, there is always a last chance qualifier before the main tournament which decides the wild card spots. I know some Americans are going to travel to japan for Melty Blood to compete in the last chance qualifier.

Like Srider said, there's a spot reserved for an Australian team. I posted about it here. We'll be holding a qualifying tournament in May.

I think if people would like to go to Japan for a VF holiday, doing it around an event such as this could turn out to be really fun.

    Agreed. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

A couple of things to consider while visiting Japan:

    1. Although you may worship some of local players, realize that they don't know shit about you and may not be willing to "hang" with you. So don't go imposing yourself on people to show you around - don't a be a fanboy.

    2. Bring money.

    3. Do read a book or two about Japanese culture so that you don't present yourself as some nihongloid. Man that's the worst.

    4. Bring money.

    5. Walk around. Breath the air. Learn a language... you're in a foreign country and you never know when the opportunity will arise again. Although we all share a common interest in VF do set up group trips to a park, or to do some other recreational activities.*

    6. *Bring money. Seriously. Don't get me wrong as you can certainly survive on a shoe string budget, but make no mistake that it's expensive over there and you'll never know when you'll need the extra cash flow. In short: plan for a vacation.
