Who here prefers/still plays the older VF games?

I've been going back and playing VF4, mainly the original version, not so much of EVO, part of me doesn't feel like playing VF5 until Final Showdown gets announced for consoles (Anyone agree on that?) I love VF5 and I would gladly pay $100 for a console version of VF5: FS. I prefer the original VF4 because I guess it was the resurrection of VF or something, I don't know how to explain it, I heard VF3 was thought to be the end of the VF series or something especially since the Sega Dreamcast went obsolete so fast, What I like about VF4 compared to VF5 is the move list, stages, music, there no being the neutralizing attacks, where both fighters end up at 0 frames or something. (That made VF5 too easy). Anyone want to share their thoughts or something?

I still play VF3tb. I was motivated to because we looked sure to have no chance of getting VF5R. I started relearning Taka-Arashi of course. I dont prefer VF3tb over VF5 at all as a whole. I do prefer however the presence of an evade button ,It's foolproof under pressure, And I definitely prefer VF3tb's soundtrack over every subsequent VF.

Whoever's been doing the garage band rock from VF4 on should be waterboarded, cattle proded and shot. It's like somebody on the AM2 game programmers team has dreams of being a rock star, so he got his garage band to do all the VF soundtracks. They perform for free so AM2 lets them do it. Either that or nobody at AM2 has the heart to tell him he sucks.

    vf2 is too legit.

i would like it if vf became as offense based as vf2 was again.

I think the VF4 soundtrack was the last great VF OST and some of VF5, I think it's just the revisions that has the not so good rock music.

<3. Kill of all the strings please. VF shouldn't have strings / stances.

Hell yeah. And all those tacky costumes, they turn our attention away from the fight. And backgrounds, like the good old days! Something like this would be rad.

...seriously tho, what the heck, even normal fighting styles have stances. And strings, come to think of it [IMG]

EDIT: in fact, if this is going to be a virtua fighter (i.e. the most realistic of unrealistic fighting games) - I want THROW STRINGS. [IMG]

I booted up my old Sega Saturn and played the original VF a while back. After months of playing VF4 and 5, it took me a little while to adjust.

VF4EVO has got an anniversary disc, you can play as VF1 models, without evades, but with all the moves of evo.

Its a mix of VF1 game system and EVO movelist. I recomend it warmly if you want to experience the older VF but with a twist!

Yeah I enjoy that every now and then VF 10 anniversary, which is included on the VF4 Evo disc here in the US, I'll admit I only started my passion for the VF series with VF2 on the genesis and even I think that it is a bit of an OK game when playing Sega Genesis Collection on my PSP go, I know it's nothing compared to the Saturn/Arcade version, I think VF2 was the only VF game I've played on a Saturn as I never had owned one, hopefully Sega will go through with putting Saturn games on Xbox live arcade and PSN and put at least VF2 on there and maybe also Fighters Mega Mix and VF Remix and I guess VF Kids just for anyone that wants to play it again.

    I miss VF4 Pai's old [4][6][P]+[G] (DDT)
& [6][4][P]+[G] (a lot of names, but I remember it as 'Whirling War Sparrow').

Yeah there are some of Sarah's moves I wish made it into the newer VF games especially some of her moves from VF3/4(original), basically the moves she had when using non-traditional Jeet Kune Do before she somewhat switched to Mixed Martial Arts (Savate, Tae Kwon Do; Grappling). I think it's one of these reasons why some of us go back and play the older games, other fighting games like Tekken, keep the moves for their fighters as well as adding new ones, Now that I realize this, I rarely go back and play older tekken and soul calibur games for that reason alone, if I were to play an older tekken or SC game, it would be SC1 on XBLA and Tekken Tag Tournament.

I started playing VF "seriously" with 4evo, but I remember Pai's old DDT.

I actually don't mind it being removed, because it's out of character with her physique and fighting style. She's a slender woman and her Chinese kung fu discipline is the intricate "Mizongyi". Someone like Wolf can have that move.

I still like VF4 since it made me got me interested back to the series after years of forgetting it. Makes me wish that Sega didn't throw away all of the moves in Evolution.[/size]

really? u think so, explain why so if u can, i'm not sure if i agree or disagree, I know that I like her moves better from when she was listed as using Jeet Kune Do (Non-traditional), until changed to Mixed Martial Arts.
