Who here trains in Martial Arts?

As this is a VF4 forum I would expect many style are probably represented among the users, I noticed there are a few styles missing in the game which I would like to have seen, there are also others which I have never come across before.

Myself, I train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai. The former being a grappling art and the latter obviously a striking art, both of which compliment each other well.

Being a fan of the grappling arts I like to see lots of clinch fighting and ground moves in my games, I've not fully explored the game yet (only had it one day) but would definately like to see more options to attack a downed opponent.

In response to the title of your thread (which doesn't really match the body of it) I smite you 5 times...

    Thread 1

    Thread 2

    Thread 3

    Thread 4

    Thread 5

My search style totally overwhelms your non-search style. As I have done it for you by searching the mysterious keyword martial, you have learned nothing. HAHAHAHAHA! Perish!

Welcome, Neil, 2 teh graytest bored EVAH!

Seriously, I hope you enjoy VF as much as the rest of us.

    HAHAHA

I see this thread and the style of 'search' have come up on numerous occassions, with the same people posting each time it seems.

So my thread title doesn't cover everything I typed, but I wanted to link it to VF4 and at the same time make my thread slightly different, and hopefully more constructive /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

    Thanks for the welcome!

I've gotten as far as high brown in Modern arnis.
As far as the grappling you mention, that is what i loved about taka in vf3. He felt very much like a grappler. I havnt touched wolf since 3, but he looks like he can be fun , but he still feels like such a striker.

BTW , have you seen ONG BAK?? I'd love to go to a school with traditional muay thai..

I have Ong-Bak on DVD, hopefully I'll be going to Thailand late next year. My original instructor is Thai but moved back there, to work on his farm.

It's going to be amazing to train there and get beaten up by a 15 year old Thai kid that has been training since he could walk /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Besides - those martial art threads of VFDC are so much humour I wish there was a locked "classic threads" section on VFDC.

I currently am studying Judo. I like stirking in my martial arts, but I just love grapling. I am a fan of Baji Quan, Muay thai, and JKD. But I just love how cool grapling moves look. I did wrestling in highschool and even though it's pure grapling, it just wasn't flashy enough as pro wrestling is. So I now just like to watch wrestling vids and try to emulate the moves.
