who would be interested in VSHGs modded for xbox?

Just wondering how much interest there is in VSHGs modded for XBOX and how much people are willing to pay. Keep in mind that there would need to be a pad inside for a relay and that costs $40 itself. I'm not gonna be doing this but I have known Tao at MAS systems for about 15 years and if there is enough interest, I might be able to get him to mod a batch of them.

would these sticks have ps3 and 360 functionality or would it just be a gutted vshg with a wired 360 pad inside?

If you can find 360 pads that use a common ground (rumor has it that some recent gamestop brand pads do), it seems like you might be able to get away with just using a single switch to move from the original VSHG to the xbox pad.

Really? If you have any more info on this, please post it. I'd like to see all the options we have for modding these things. The only problems I see is with the stick and the four smaller buttons up top. The stick when used for ps3 has a closed circuit and this would need to be cut and rewired so a gang switch can go inbetween. The buttons up top are plungers that touch onto a pcb to close the loop. I dont know how you could still use this piece and put a gang switch in between.

Basically my thinking would be to wire one side of all the QD buttons, the red wires from the auxiliary buttons pcb, and the red wires from the JLF to the appropriate points on both the VSHG pcb and the 360. Then wire the rest of the connections to a single ground point connected to a spdt switch; connect the vshg ground on one throw and the 360 ground on the other. You'd have to cut the JLF harness and cut or desolder the aux. pcb connector, but that's not a big deal - just need a little bit of extra wire (i've already done this for installing one of Toodles' universal PCBs in a VSHG).

Only concern is whether there'd be interference from both pcbs being wired in; as long as only one is plugged into the console, I don't think it would be a problem.

Doing one of toodles' universal pcbs with a 360 piggyback would also be an option, but his ps3 support is a bit wonky still, so I couldn't recommend that yet.

Yeah, the gamespot PCB I have has a common ground, which is why I mentioned the rotary switch idea Gerald. since you would only need one spot on the rotary switch, and common cheap rotary switchs are usually 18p2t or 24p2t you can easily do all the buttons.

KoD- how good is Toodles Universal PCB, I heard it uses a PIC microcontroller. Any word on if it has any lag or compatibility issues? I might order one from him.... or reverse engineer it myself /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Unsafe_Dan , is this the controller you're using?

    http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=802180

The advantage of doing things the way I suggested (if it works) is that you wouldn't even need a rotary switch, just a regular spdt, since you'd only be switching the ground.

The UPCB has a lot of potential, but not quite there yet - ps3 and saturn have some problems. dc and 360 require a piggybacked pcb. I'd say best use for it now is if you have pc usb, ps2, and neo-geo / supergun setups that you want to use the same stick for.

if you want to play around with one, i have an extra kit - definitely not worth re-engineering the amount of time toodles has put into it.

KoD, to be honest I'm unsure as I bought the PCB bare from a friend who got a hold of a shipment of these for his own stick building purposes. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

I'm not so sure your way will work, can you give me a block diagram of the wiring? My friend used a multi console idea without a rotary switch/switching circuit but ended up with power problems and had to use diodes to balance things out. I don't think your idea is the same but I can't tell from your discription. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif

To me, I use the rotary switch cause it's fail proof (physical analog device) and rather inexpensive at the electronic places I go to. But that's me.

PS: sad to hear about the toodle PCB, I'm an electronics major so I'm sort of interested in how he set up his PIC.

if there is a way to have functionality with both ps3 and xbox360, I would jump all over this. Anything less and I'll just use my DOA4 stick as planned. I have put a lot of miles on that stick so adapting to VF with it shouldn't be a problem for me. But I would love to have a workin VHGS on 360 though.

Apologies for the crap quality of the drawing, but hopefully this gets the point across:

As for the upcb, his code is freely downloadable, and I think his layout diagram is as well, so . . .

I want two of these for SURE. How much? PLEASE funcitonality for both PS3 and 360!

My VSHG has spoiled me on my PS3. I have the DOA4 stick on my 360 and trying to go back to it makes my hands feel like I have a severe case of arthritus.

I would, I just would want ZERO LAG. That and the requirement that I can get it before the game launches. I don't want even a day of waiting past the release. If it has zero lag, I'm willing to pay the price of an imported VSHG plus shipping. The guy who said 130 would not be a bad price.

question for those with a vshg. does the pcb use a common ground setup?

i'm just wondering on the feasibility of doing this mod as cheap as possible with a dual pcb setup. so far cost would be $80 for vshg, $20 for gs microcon 360 controller, plus tax/shipping for both.

i've never heard of a ps3 pcb with a common ground setup since start, select, ps, usually have their own separate grounds from the rest of the buttons at least what i've seen from the wireless official controller and hfs3.

i'm also curious to how you guys would mount the headset slot.

I'm not an electronics expert and I was basically asking everyone if they were interested because I was thinking of asking a stick builder in the LA area if he would be willing to do this. If this is something you have done or would be able to do, i'm sure alot of people here, including me, would be sending you VSHGs to mod.

Re: who would be interested in VSHGs modded for xb

ah, i was only putting prices out there so people wouldn't be dissapointed when they find out how much your stick builder friend might charge considering the job is more than just adding wires to a pcb but installing the pcb in such a way that he would have to modify the case so that the headset could be used. considering if he had to purchase a vshg and 360 controller alone it's already $100 before tax and shipping at the cheapest.

also i'm just trying to add to the conversation of dual pcb possibility. i haven't done the mod but am in the thinking process like everyone else on the best way to go about it. there is another member on this board named jaxel who is a custom stick builder and has done the project box style setup where you can manually switch between pcbs plug and play style. he might be into modding sticks for those interested if you ask him.

sorry if it seems like i'm derailing your thread though. i think modding vshg's for 360 is a great idea but just like everyone else i think deep down we all want one stick that will work with everything.

Not at all dude. Thats what the thread is here for. Personally, after using the VSHG, I really dont want to switch to any other stick for virtua fighter. I'm sure alot of people feel the same way as well and thats why were all trying to get our VSHGs converted. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
