It looks flashy and catchy, especially it's gameplay. VF only has solid gameplay and fundamentals going for it. There's not much going for it besides that in terms of standing out from the competition. Everything else is good and adequate minus the cheesy characters.

Tekken has sexy characters ? No way they are more classy than Sarah, Aoi, Pai, Vanessa, Eileen.

Even Dural is more cool than all that Tekken dumb cast...

 

Whoa so that's why the pros are excessively defensive always looking for baits and gimmicks before starting that long ass combo juggle.

I love virtua fighter, I'm no troll, which is why I'm here and will support the site when I get my finances steadier. But truth be told the eye candy is really in Tekken's court and "nohomo" but even the dudes look very attractive. I love that they make the characters speak their native tongue (but I'd prefer to have both speaking their native languages as well as English which is the lingua franca).

Design wise only Akira and Jean are S tier, personality and aesthetics are truly nailed for those characters. Kage has personality nailed but could use aesthetics tuning.

For the most, Tekken is outright superior on personality and aesthetics:

Nina/Anna Williams > Sarah
(They nail the sexy blond look, they are simply aesthetically more attractive. Sure it can be argued that the Williams could use more personality but god damn do they look attractive. Sarah doesn't look that great in her swimsuit options - something is missing)

Christie Monteiro & Master Raven > Vanessa
(thank god they made her attractive in VF5 but they still haven't figure out a way to make attractive darker complexion, yet Tekken has come close with Master Raven - it's meant to be like a rich brown with a yellow glow; like Ashanti, not Beyonce looks more mix-raced without being edited to look darker)

Xiaoyu > Pai
(she dresses in a more attractive way, aesthetic, she's got that more cutesy girl look)

Josie, Asuka, Lili, Alisa... the kitchen sink> Eileen
(Eileen is a terrible ultra cheesy character, she's like an annoying fangirl without introspection)

Kazumi, Asuka>Aoi
(Kazumi just looks miles better than Aoi, there's no contest strickly speaking )

virtually any white male character in Tekken/anybody practising his fighting style>Brad
(he's got the personality of a douchebag with no real redeeming qualities)

Feng Wei>Lei~Fei
(Discount Shaolin placement holder)

Marshal Law > Jacky
(VF nearly had it when they tried to subvert the bruce lee archetype - kudos for thinking outside the box. However, Jacky is a failure of concept - boring and annoying without depth or much redeeming aesthetics)

Gen from streetfighter >Lao
(well personality wise he fits better what Lao should have been)

Bryan, Eddy Gordo, the bear >Jeffry
(complete arse of a character that's quite ugly)

Shun
(no big issues but could have been cooler and better designed)

King > El Blaze
(El Blaze could have been better but he's just annoying and without a doubt, King looks cooler simply said. On the plus side, it seems like El Blaze captured Lucha libre much better than King but he should have been taller or something, as well as macho)

King < Wolf
(Tekken lacks a Zangief, only King comes close but he should have been a lucha dora instead. Nevertheless, it seems like a wrestler would have better design in Tekken)

Bob>Taka
(The best fat guy concept in a video game is Bob, Taka is generic mc generic)

Claudio>Lion
(lion is annoying, bland, and poorly designed... nuff said)
