Why is a Hori stick better than a shadowblade?

I have I Shadowblade, and I didn't like it at all. Will a Hori stick be worth the money? I know that this board has a general dislike of the Shadowblade, and I was wondering what exactly makes it a bad stick.

I rather like my Shadowblade, but it's a matter of strict preference. The only gripe I have with it, myself, is that the dead zone is a bit too large so the stick feels spacy and loose. Everyone else just thinks that it's general trash. :p

I just got up to the 7th stage in arcade mode on very hard while using the shadowblade and its only my 2nd week of playing vf, ever. So it cant suck that bad. Not saying i'm really good or anything just making a point.

I actually have 2 Shadowblades, I enjoy them for what they are. I've modded them to work with both PS2 and Neo Geo, so I get a fair amount of use out of them.

BUT! It's not the stick I'd want to do any serious fighting with because the stick is so imprecise. I often find myself learning a new game on a Shadowblade and then switching to my Hori for gametime. I've already learned at a disadvantage, so I'm sorta better when I get onto a real stick. I dunno, maybe I'm just crazy. Either way, to directly answer your question. The Hori sticks I have (Tekken 4 and VF4) have never given me any problems and I use them almost daily. I've had them both for about a year, so maybe I got a good batch or something. I'd recommend them, especially as an upgrade to the shadowblade. The Hori is tighter, buttons are more responsive, the base is a good size, and the actual joystick feels solid rolling around in your hands. It's technically a better quality stick. Sorry for the long response. /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif -Minus
