Why is everybody playing 2D fighting games?

Chinese Chess is fun. Catapults, King is confined to the castle, some units cannot leave their half of the board--good game ^_^

For bad players like me, we stalemate way too often though :p

I think Divekick is fun as a social, casual game, but it doesn't hold up when people aren't around.

I am enjoying Skullgirls right now, which shocks the hell out of me. I've been neglecting my VF due to that plus trying to do some SC5 training for TFC.

    I dunno...

    1) Taka can dodge as fast as Kage
    2) Kage can throw people 10 feet into the air
    3) People can still stand after Aoi or Goh breaks their limbs

If you ask me that's pretty realistic

    /sarcasm

There was a thread at another website where someone asked, what people who don't like 3D fighters, don't like exactly. I mentioned movement such as walk speed is.generally slow so dashing of some sort is a must. VF5 ver.C.hit the nail on the head as far as movement went. Walk speeds were fast, but dashing still had the advantage.

I'd give special mention to SC IV and V because Namco made it more movement more approachable without just simple taps, instead of double taps to get around. Running is is almost instant as well. 8WR is just a lame evade system though, and so is double tapping for a quick evade ( SC V). Taps like OM and evade are a better design, as it gives the game more zip.

    I'd put

I hate dashing... Sometimes I enter double 4 but it reads it simply as 4 so I end up walking back a little and getting hit.

Clean up your inputs. My dashing/stepping used to be bad, unless it was pre-meditated, but eventually it just becomes second nature. Again, fast walk speeds should be the norm across the board, to get the player in the game faster, but dashing should still retain it's advantage over walking.

Also the Failed Evade in 5 was better because it switched your stance, which gave the player instant visual feed back to see if their dash canceling was on point.

I hope Sega looks at that aspect of 5 and uses it, if not going for something entirely new.
