Winning Marketing push for VF5FS

We've all discussed to death the lack of marketing for vf5, and that it doesn't have the player base it should compared to other fighters. And so many threads discussing PS3 vs Xbox 360, and if/when a release occurs which will it be.

IMO, the winning strategy would be this. Launch VF5FS, and make it the 1st game to support inter-platform online versus play. I don't much care about the logistics of it, fact of the matter is, it's possible if the right people want to do it.

The marketing push, the upswing in popularity, everything else would be academic. Game, set, match. VF5FS wins.

VF was the first 3D fighting game.

The Lynx was the first colour handheld.

The Dreamcast was the first online-enabled console out of the box (I think).

    Etc.

I don't think that being first always matters. Look at the states of the above. It certainly would give VF some publicity, but it's not an automatic win for the game.

And besides, how would Sega get Microsoft and Sony to agree to an online cross-platform deal? I haven't heard of anything recently even hinting at the idea that either company was interested in the concept at this point.

In this case, "the right people" are Microsoft and Sony, so this won't be happening.

Sega? Marketing push? It would make sense, it would work, the results would be amazing. That's why it won't happen. Dumbest company ever.

The best marketing push would be to promote the game. It doesn't matter if it's the first game to do such and such.

Truth! Look up the history of why the dreamcast failed and you'll find it was basically inadequacy on Sega's part. They botched it by firing the guy who actually had some idea of how to launch the system.

Reap what they soe. I hope they pick up their pieces before the company gives way to livingroom kinect kid games.

    List of not a chances:
-VF5:Whatever coming to North America / Rest of the World.
    -VF5:W being promoted in NA/RotW.
    -Sega finding NA/RotW.
    -Sony and Microsoft working together.
-Making a game that connects their 2 networks.

VF5FS wont ever be a blockbuster no matter what they do. They already don't treat their fanbase well, so F em.
