[IMG] Y'all thought you could rest. Hah. No!

    IT'S COMBO TIME!

In the last season, L_A, GoatCheese Blues, DRE and Plague were regulars in the top spots. Don't sit on your ass at home and let that happen again. Come and do some BIG DAMAGE!

WNFs are hosted at the Super Arcade in Walnut, California with the tourney to start ~ 9 PM PST. Casuals start at 7 PM PST. $5 to get in. $5 to enter the tournament.

Last season saw 30+ players entered two weeks in a row. Looking for 40+ for Summer Edition. Let's do this!

For past summaries of the previous events, please check the
Wednesday Night Fights - Weekly VF5FS Tournaments Summary Thread. For those that don't live in the Los Angeles area, the event will be streamed at the Level|Up Live Channel.

Gamerbee will be there tomorrow night at WNF. I'm not sure if he is competing in VF yet but im sure he will since he did in EVO.

Is there any way we can get some headsets on at least the stream setup? I have a pair, so if anyone else can bring some that would be great.

This is me trying to give constructive feedback when I just want to tell Plague how much he sucks:

      1) You don't have to talk about the matches all the time. Inform viewers of the match and then they can view it on stream and you can talk about absolutely whatever. If something happens return to the stream or if it's a big match. Your "job" is to entertain in the stream not have exact blow by blow play by play.

I really think you focus to much on the stream look at Jaxels / Aris streams and whatnot to see that it's ok to go off on a tangent.
For instance talking about your experiences at Evo / Evo itself now would be a goldmine, up and coming players and what not. Inform of where WNF is how to find it and play, how to improve in VF, basic rules of VF, RO and nitaku, staggers and whatnot. I don't consider yo as someone who's at the level to give expert commentary like for instance L.A Akira (sorry) but you have been a part of the VF scene for a long time you can therefore talk about west / east coast rivalry how it was during VF4 and lots of things like this what's new for VFS etc etc as you've been a key figure for a long time. Try to almost go through in your head or even have a piece of paper of what you can bring up so you don't space for 10 seconds just smiling like you're high as a kite.

You can NOT be a good / entertaining commentator simply watching a lot of matches going 'ohhhh-ahhhh-ahhhhhh!' or trying to establish keyphrases (p.s 'taste the rainbow' is something Yipes has been saying about Zero's super in marvel forever for instance). If you really think it's funny that people are annoyed at you you should just flat out stop. If this is the only thing the viewers remembers of you afterwards you have failed. A good thing is you're naturally relaxed and have a comfortable voice - do NOT scream into the mic like you and Zero sometimes did at Evo. Stop fucking referring to players as 'Gentlemen' etc and giggling like a schoolgirl who's seen her first cock whenever someone swears - it makes you look even older than you are.

      2) Goes hand in hand with the above but try to get a quick talk with players before and after matches to build a bit of hype that way. Simply asking someone after a match "Do you want to say something?" might be enough. Specially if someone is salty or someone is looking to really knock someone out.

      3) Inform the viewers of upcoming big matches and developments in the brackets often. People tune in and out. Inform what happens of stream in particular / who's knocked out.

Thank for that. I'm new to commentary. Help really does help.

take it from me, it takes practice to do commentary. nobody wakes up a professional.
Keep on doing the do Talis

I really enjoyed WNF last night and have to say that Plague really took the commentating advice to heart and I felt it paid off! Although I never felt he was a bad commentator (because I know how hard it can be to do that and have seen some....interesting... streams in my time), I definitely felt more interested and engaged in what was going on with his commentary. Keep up the practice and I am liking where it is going!
