I tend to learn best from others and I have got a mild style down with lei fei, but nothing special. If anybody could help me out with learning lei fei, I would greatly appriciate it.

This will probably get me flamed here, but I know how to use ryu hayabusa really well in doa 4 and could give teach people to use him in return.

Dude, no problem at all. PM me and if you are on Live we can set up some sessions. I was looking for a sparring partner. I use Lau but believe me - my friend plays a mean Lei Fei and i can hook you up with him so you can be a$$ kicking in no time.

got a question here, what are some good moves to do after these 2 moves

    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif

    and

    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif (on counter)

    Currently I do

    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif - /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif - /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df_.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df_.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif , /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif - /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif

    and

    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif - /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif

This is good, I think its the universally most useful and damaging followup to pretty much any Lei starter, but with individual characters and situations there may be something better.

    <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">

I think /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif - /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is one, the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif is bit bad in the way that it can be techrolled away from after the second punch, although Id like to see someone do that in laggy online.. You need exact recovery. I dont really know what is a good followup.

After /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif on MC, you can do one of these 2 combos:

    1) /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif

Need help on something new now. I dont know the name of the stance but its the forward facing flower stance (real name) I dont know what they call it in this. Its the one you go into when you press /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif , /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif . What are some useful ways to get into that stance (using that method gets me punched allot.) Anyways some useful moves out of it would help to. I havent really found it to be overly useful but people tell me its one of his best ones.

Alright, I am a Lei player and I admit that I am horrible on the offensive side.

I seldom mash honestly and I win matches but I feel how much I suck whether I win or lose.

    General flaws:
    Lack of Mid-range game
Lack of aggression, severe turtling. I try to break it.

    Tendencies that are flawed:

    Too much /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif.

    Recycle the same moves at close range, normal stance. Most used ones are: /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif//forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, and throwing of course.

    Too much /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif into Dokuritsu. At close range in Doku I:/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif/ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif/ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif ( /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif) . Or I /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif ( /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif - /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif - /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif (etc). Whether it works or not, I do this a bit too often and I cant break it!!!

So when in normal or Doku at point-blank range, what options do you exercise?

  13. The_Dark_Wall

    The_Dark_Wall Member

    I believe the doku stance it the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif

well I almost always try to stay away from this stance close up, as its not very good, although it has a great mid/long range game. Keep in mind Im not expert lei fei.

However if I was in such a positions odds are I would do some of these things
    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif
(I beleive his quickest move in that stance, mid chop, good for interrupting, however only should be used when you get stuck close range in that situation, due to its lack in range)

    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif
(another quick shot, maybe slower than the above move , but it dodges mids and highs and stuns on hit or counter, one of the two)

    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif

    juggler, but its slow

    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif
if you can get the time to do it, pushes them back, giving you room to use lei feis mid range stuff, where I believe he is much stronger

This one is only if your dam sure they are about to go high on you and even then its risky

    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif - /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif - /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif

basically ducks you out of the way and then comes up with a strong punch. This is more for show and rarely works. I dont recommend it but it is something I do when I fight somebody Im not worried about loosing to. Also for me that moves hard to do quickly, because I suck at going into the laying down stance.

I've gotten allot better recently. I still need a good trainer though, I would say Im probably a higher end mediocre player. I can help you out if you want, my gt is "The Dark Wall" I'll send you a request.

    Back on topic though

I find this to be a strong combo

    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif , /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif (hold) /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/n.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif

However if Im fighting a high end opponent they usually slow escape it, whats a good follow up to either a connecting

    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif , /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif or a heishiki /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif ?

You're talking about Ura Koko Shiki (UKS from here on out), one of Lei's more interesting special stances. Off the top of my head, I can think of two ways to get into UKS quickly:

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif (the one you mentioned)
    as well as
    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif (or "Nehan Shiki"), /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif

I never get into UKS when in close, and if I decide to go into it at midrange to take advantage of his /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif sabaki to start a combo (still pretty rare), I take the Nehan Shiki route. I do this because, as you pointed out, it's easy to get snuffed while trying to make your way into this stance, and I use it primarily for defense at long range. Plus, Nehan Shiki is one of his safer, more versatile stances anyway.

Here are a few other things to consider with Ura Koko Shiki. Please bear in mind that I'm still quite new with VF myself, and I'm still developing my Lei. These tactics work for me now, but who knows how I'll feel about them as I progress:

If you're committed to putting UKS to use in your offensive game (not unrealistic, as far as I can tell so far), try this: after scoring a knockdown, stand at the very end of your opponent's wake-up attack range. Just before they swing (it'll usually be a sweep), enter Nehan Shiki (/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif) then go into UKS. This will make their attack whiff and put you in position to follow up with the fairly nasty UKS > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif options.

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif from UKS does a lunging jump kick that strikes mid, staggers if it connects, and has a surprisingly long-ish range. If your opponent gets hip to your annoying "Sunshine Punch" tactics (detailed below) and is lingering just out of its range, surprise them by throwing this at them instead and following up with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif if you can nail them against a wall. Just be sure to keep your eye out for tech rolls that'll pretty much ruin this setup. If they happen to tech roll close to you (very unlikely as most people can't resist trying to sweep you, but still...) and you're stuck in Nehan, the sabaki that comes out after /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif on your way to UKS probably won't save you. Your best bet is to transition into Suirankan Shiki (/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif from Nehan/Ura Nehan Shiki) and go for broke with either /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif (scissor takedown, two low hits), /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif (low, followed by two mids out of Ura Nehan), or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif (mid).

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif from UKS does what I call the "Sunshine Punch" - a mid attack, again with deceptive range, that will deflect mid/high punches along the way (I could be mistaken on what, exactly, this sabaki works on, so be warned). If I get a big enough lead but still want to play defensively, I'll dash away from my opponent, go into UKS, and look for an opportunity to surprise them with the Sunshine Punch. There aren't any sure-fire follow-ups to go along with it, but /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is nice and, I think, safe.

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is what you use out of UKS at a disgustingly (<---that's a word) long/medium range to surprise the hell out of your opponent when they try to circle around your Ura Koko Shiki. It makes you swoop around and do a strong two-fisted mid punch that has limited tracking properties.

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif will make Lei take tiny steps backward and forward respectively while in UKS. Use this to keep your opponent right in front of you so you don't get flanked. Lei's UKS attacks are quite a bit more unpredictable (for you) if they don't travel head-on, and if your opponent gets all the way around you (...yeah right, but follow me on this one), you'll be in regular Koko Shiki, and that has tactics much different from the Ura (facing forward) variation.

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif is the only thing you can use to leave UKS without actually attacking, so if your opponent refuses to get close to you while you're in it, guard cancel out of it rather than whiffing attacks. By /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif'ing out of it, you can very quickly enter any of Lei's other stances (like Hai Shiki: /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif and give yourself some comfy mid range, high hitting jump kick alternatives via /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif), and run your mix-ups from there. Remember, you can always jump right back into it with Nehan Shiki > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif if need be. And if your opponent didn't like you when you first got into UKS for defense, they'll absolutely loathe you when you abandon it, let them relax a bit, and go right back into it. That's always a good thing.
