has anyone noticed that the ps3 and xbox360 advertising is moving towards nintendo wii advertising/marketing. All the commercials i see are family this or family that, and talking about everyone games and kid games. Truth is, i don't even play my wii since i got my xbox 360. Do we have any thoughts on this? It makes me a little nervous.

The tendency toward simpler, more casual, family-friendly 'party'-games has been prevalent for a while now.

Maybe they think they don't have to advertise to gamers like us, on TV, because we go seek out so many other forms of information on video gaming. They don't aim their TV adds too much at us core gamers because they aim so many other types of advertising and information at us.

For instance, websites, gaming site/mag articles, game reviews, forums, blogs and G4 type stations. I'm thinking they advertise the family games on regular TV that way, cause that's the only way they think they can reach the casual crowd. If you don't have a 360 or PS3 by now, you're probably not too, too big of a console gamer and are pretty far behind the curve.

PS3 and 360 don't have to advertise to us because we would go seek out information on upcoming games regardless. I'm absolutely positive the makers of PS3 and 360 consoles/games know their audience has MUCH more sophisticated tastes in games than Wii owners.

I personally hate what the Wii stands for. Further, it's not just me, Nintendo's core gamer audience is so totally fed up with the direction they've gone with their games/system/content; I bet Nintendo will not retain a large part of their core audience in the next generation. The same core gamers that made Nintendo what it is today, with their loyalty to Nintendo's consoles and good-quality, fun games, have been basically abandoned by Nintendo. Nintendo is for little kids and retirement homes now, not "real" gamers...
