XLEAGUE.TV is proud to announce the latest addition to our existing line-up of tournaments. In anticipation of its upcoming release, Virtua Fighter 5 on the Xbox 360 is now open for XLEAGUE.TV registration, with a 1st prize of £200 (approx $400), runner-up prize of £50 (approx $100) and chances to appear on television! Virtua Fighter 5 will join our current range of tournaments including FIFA 08, World in Conflict, and Project Gotham Racing 4.

XLEAGUE.TV is an eSports television channel and website dedicated to the world of competitive gaming. By using our television channel (UK SKY Channel 279) and website in conjuction with each other, we are able to offer you a brand new, fully-interactive service. Battle it out online and on TV for the chance to win big prizes and become the next eSports superstar.

XLEAGUE.TV is the first gaming site anywhere to bring BOTH an online competitive playing site and a television broadcast of the matches along with hard hitting gaming news and interviews DAILY. If you're a gamer and you compete and communicate regularly with your online friends, you need an online site and a TV channel as dedicated and focused on gaming as you are. And one that will allow you to grow as high and as fast as your gaming skills will take you. Unlike others, XLEAGUE.TV is not a traveling roadshow of 6-7 events a year in various cities.

As usual, our tournament places are limited, so it's advised you book your slot NOW! The tournament is five credits (approx $10) to enter, or free to platinum users.

    Happy Gaming!

I love the idea, but is this located in the UK? If so, what's the point of playing if your from the states? Your going to experience horrible lag and your just putting yourself at a disadvantage. If anyone is thinking that 1 or 2 frames won't make a difference your horribly wrong. Just imagine a heavy weight aquiring a light weight p.<<<NOT COOL! However, I do like the idea that companies are promoting online fighting. Having said that, it looks as if we are far off to where I'd imagine everyone would want to be, minimal or no lag.

Not just competing in a overseas tourney...
Just using hella cheap moves to win the $400 bones..

    Peace^-^

What's the point? I didn't take Denkai and Frash's comments to mean "I'm entering!", but more along the lines of "it's great to see this kind of thing happening!"

But, even if they did want to enter, they'd do so at their own risk of suffering the effects of lag.

Personally, I think it's great to see tournaments like this already begin to surface!

I like the idea of this as a future development thing, it has to start somewhere. There should, however, be some restrictions as for instance areawise. Would be fun if the US could have something like this say US west and US east with two winners (hint hint).

I'm tired of people complaining about online lag and so on, being to l33t. What ever happened to good, clean, fun?

Will be fun to see where GGPO and so on can bring onlinegameplay.

    Peace out.

I wasn't thinking about entering but the fact that the UK is doing this is sure to help out the VF scene there. The fact that the finals may air on T.V is just awesome

    Guys, thanks for the feedback.

The tournament is UK based but is open to anyone who has the ability to play online.

One way of looking at this tournament would be to get a load of US players to participate. That way you can eliminate the lag with more US players than UK.

Also, the only other organisation that has TV coverage for a beat em up is Championship Gaming Series with their Dead or Alive 4, which incidentally, we run as a league.

There are three more games we are hoping to bring as either a league or tournament: Tekken 5 DR Online, Soul Calibur 4 and Super Turbo HD - however, those are going to be based on the performance on the VF5 tournament.

If you guys do get your copies of VF5 on the 30th, we can test the connection between US and UK to see if it is viable for you guys.

Is the lag so good that a tourny for cash is actually possible?

I've played a player in Norway and a player in Scotland, they seem lag free and never slowed down. I have not tried playing a player in the US, so if anyone want to try it, let me know.

If there would be some control over locales then yes. Like if it was Europe only. I will not be participating if there are lot of US/Australia/New Zealand/Siberia/Moon attendees.. Losing to random buttonmashin Lau due to lag is not fun. There are a lot of UK people I have fought who also have lag, but mostly the matches have been lagless.

These are the same dudes who run the DoA tournaments. To be honest, and not to ruin the thread I don't agree with online tournaments for cash because of lag. But I'm sure most serious players realize this if they enter.

It'll probably bring popularity to the game but I hope these dudes do more offline stuff cause the game just isn't meant to be played with lag.

Bare in mind that the future is online as it does cater the worldwide audience. With Microsoft being ones catering for online play, companies are moving towards creating organisations around the online structure. There will be less and less major events involving offline as it is expensive to run. As you may have notice, a few LAN events have disappeared because it did not have the money to keep running, even if they charged people at the door.

In terms of lag, people are getting faster connection speed as time goes by. At the moment, 24mbps is what the UK can get maximum and I'm sure the USA and other countries have fast broadband connections. And software companies are getting better in optimising netcode to keep it as lag-free as possible. As the next Tekken, Soul Calibur, Street Fighter, etc becomes available in the future, so will the improvements of online play. Plus it also means that you don't have to spend all that money to fly over to a country for a competition, when you may not have the time to do so. Imagine the situation where you got this great job with a wife and kid but obviously you can't blow them out of the water for a tournament half way across the atlantic. With online, you can go and play your game and still keep them happy.

I'm really happy with the online performance of VF5, even Tekken DR online with USA players (which so far have been lag-free). I'm looking forward to Street Fighter HD and Soul Calibur 4's online features.

The game is out in the USA on the 30th, so once you get your copies, give online a go - you'll be suprised on how good online is...

BTW, not only do you guys win money, but also this trophy:

It's cool for competition but not always cool for the community. Half the fun is meeting people IRL around you, at least that's how it is for me.

    It's a great organization nevertheless.

    yeah nothing beats offline,
it's sad that some of the new players will never experience the whole thing that goes with that what with the way things are going with online play,
    anyways off topic,
I may enter this torni too /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Re: XLEAGUE.TV Online Virtua Fighter 5 360 Tournam

Yes you can. Just register to the website and purchase credit of £5 and then enroll yourself into the tournament. There is less than two weeks before registration closes. We are now broadcasting the first 3/4 Virtua Fighter 5 group stage matches, with filming taking place in our studios on 24th November 2007.

Anyone who has enrolled can send me an email/message stating they are available for that day. They wil be playing their opponent in their group offline, while carrying on with the competition online.
