Yakuza Fighter 5 FS

Here's a genius idea.

Since Sega is apparently releasing a Yakuza-branded zombie game, why not release a fighting game that is VF5FS "under the hood", but branding, characters, and extra features (minigames, town roaming etc) are all from the Yakuza games?

After all, Shenmue kinda spun off from VF, and Yakuza kinda spun off from Shenmue, so its time to come full circle

I believe the primary reason why VF is unpopular is because its dreadfully uncool - right down to its very name.
Its not the complexity, since most fighting games are complex.
Its not the lack of flash (although that doesnt help.)
Its the embarrassing name, generic character designs, cringeworthy costumes/accessories, and soul-destroying engrish voices.

Keep the gameplay and ditch everything else (and piggyback onto a more successful IP) and maybe it will have a chance. Oh, and GGPO netcode.


So why is Kazuma Kiryu using Hakkyokuken, and random bar hostess doing Sarah kicks? They have a Yakuza ZOMBIE game... I'm sure noone cares about making sense by now

I agree with Tengu and I'm also going to take Tony's advice; vf is DEAD.

 

If FS comes home they sould add Kazuma and Bayonetta as playable characters.

 

Nah, they just need to add some items to make characters look like them.

 

I've played Yakuza 1, 2 and currently playing 3. Each of them has a Sega World arcade with VF cabinets that (unlike arcades in Shenmue) you can't actually play. Yakuza 1 and 2 had VF4Evo and 3 has VF5. Maybe Yakuza 4 will have VF5R cabinets that I can't play....

Would've been nice to have some kind of demo and mini guide in there to introduce people to the game. The Yakuza games have a lot of side games with detailed instructions as it is. Yakuza's supposed to be massive in Japan maybe it would've helped somewhat over there.

Why stop there? Make console exclusives!

Ryo Hazuki as 360 exclusive character and Kazuma Kiryu for a PS3 exclusive character.

 

That would mess tourneys up, or shall I say mess up those people that want to be competitive with those particular characters... They would be banned just for the simple fact that they aren't available for both consoles...

I think the point of the thread was just to fantasize about VF.
I doubt he thought SEGA would actually care.

But anyway, take VF engine, make a vs game against... I dunno ANYONE, boom instant cash.

Just completed Yakuza 3 and I noticed Kazama now has a couple of signature VF moves (Akira's body check and Wolf's giant swing). I also saw the VF5 team listed in the credits.

A Bruce Lee clone was in there as well and his style looked very similar to Law's from Tekken.
