Year of the Fighter

Ok it's been talked about alot in gaming press that due to several high quality releases like SFIV, Blazblue, Battle Fantasia, KoFXII, KoF98UC, MVC2, Tekken 6, Garou: Mark of the Wolves. That this year is the "Year of the Fighter" and I agree 100%.

After spanuous years of 8 Billion mediocre shooters and the influx of casual gaming and crack-like MMO-dom, fighting games finally return to the public eye.

IGN.com has done a roundtable discussing it and their editor in chief has kindly pointed out the VF5: Online is still the best and is willing to slap people who say otherwise

What are your thoughts on this, i'm assuming most people here do stray from VF from time to time, which fighters do you love to play outside VF, personally I still love my DC and it's arsenal of top quality arcade ports and play every other weekend with friends and family.

I say we remove the rat from the chinese zodiac calender and replace it with Akira. That way every 12 years or so were reminded of how great fighting games truely are.
