No... is this the death knell of the VF series?

Considering he hasn't worked with VF in like a decade, I'd say the death knell would be something else.

In the video from Def's link (which contained the craziest sounding translator i've heard in a long time) he didn't sound very happy with the direction VF has taken anyway...

Not surprised... the absurdly long/damaging combos in FS, and the crazy wall combos in R are turning it into tekken sadly.

Maybe Suzuki will make a new fightin' franchise... maybe.

I agree. There is nothing special about that trend.

I heard that Yu Suzuki will be in an advisory role for I think Sega.

Lol, i can just imagine it. He suggests something that would be fun and innovative and sega say nah, too risky, we'll make a sonic game instead.

So there was tension within Sega of Japan. If Virtua Fighter does not get another game this site will die too. This site depends on the success of VF.

It's not just Tekken that's like this. Pretty much any 3d fighter with a wall has crazy combos, and any 3d fighter has long juggles. Tekken just gets the bad wrap because its popular, and that's all people see in that particular game.

In 2d fighters, combos get crazy when it comes to corner combos, but they don't seem to get the bad wrap, unless its MvC2, and more recently MOTW with the somewhat new vids released awhile back.

So what if VF is taking concepts from other games??? You can't knock them for trying something; and besides, it still has that "thing" that makes the game stand out from the other games. The way I see it, back in the day, if you knew what you were doing in a particular game, you could do MORE damage with that 2-3 hit combo/setup than you would now with a long drawn combo that did way less damage. The older games were more deadlier to play than now folks because a combo, especially in games like Tekken 2, actually meant death (or something damn near close to it) for any character. Now in the more newer games, only a few characters could really do things like that, not everyone has that ability. Ok, MvC3 is like that, but I blame that on subsystem crap like lvl 3 KFC --err XFC...

I don't see things like that dumbing VF down. Learn to block, or get caught up in a combo and then learn how to say ggs in under 20 seconds. Simple. Shit just got "Bushido Blade'd"!!!

Really though, I do hope Yu Suzuki does major things in the gaming scene...

I wish Yu Suzuki could take everything with him that he helped create. Gosh I have such a hatred for this stupid and stubborn company.
