[IMG]"I want to get as many people around the world as possible interacting with the entertainment Sega produces." - Yukio Sugino, director of internal game development at Sega of Japan.

"Our team members have spent long nights trying to make games as fun as they can get them, really valuable experiences. From my standpoint, seeing games like that go unnoticed by people is about the saddest thing I can think of. As a company, we need to bring our newest creations wherever they can go and show people the fun involved with them. This challenge of bring Sega-style play, Sega-style entertainment, Sega-style content to people worldwide is the road Sega needs to tackle going into the future."

Translation of a Famitsu interview with Yukio Sugino from 1up.com. Additional information from that interview can be found in this link

      Dear Sega,

      Welcome to 10 years ago.

      Signed,
      Disgruntled

But on a more serious note, it's one thing for a Director to saddened by SEGA's inability to bring their games abroad, but it's another thing to actually do something about it.

      We're still waiting!

It probably doesn't mean anything, but interesting that this interview is in Famitsu and the vf twitter account is pushing a famitsu issue today

there's no time like the present. sega's sitting on a goldmine of naomi and lindbergh games that have yet to see a proper port, let alone all those saturn games they've yet to port. the genesis and dreamcast collections are a good start, but still nowhere near enough if they actually want to generate interest in their back catalog.

Exactly!!! Sega has so many great titles that they can either remake or follow up on...Gun Star Hero's was created 18...YES!!! 18 years ago. You would think by now that they would come up with something remotely close to that.

Maybe they should practice what they preach.

meh, it's like saying "I really want to be a better person" or "I'd like to be thinner". it is always more than the list of things you say you'll do, it's what you do.

A statement like this just showcases Sega's essential fault - they seem to have zero leadership, just a lot of people milling about.

SEGA has MAJOR amounts of work to do. They've already damaged their reputation around the world, I don't see how being remiss about it does anything but make people like us even more disappointed.

Release VF5:FS on consoles or STFU.

Bad example...how about Streets of Rage then!?

I don't know if Sega made it, but I'd love to see another Guardian Heroes.

Seriously they have way to many games in there vault to NOT be on top. As someone said earlier... ZERO LEADERSHIP and I'll throw in POOR MANAGEMENT!

      BUMS!!!!!!

"Sugino can't ignore the effect that Sega's retirement from console sales in 2001 had on the company"

Oh really? Can't help but spark a little hope [IMG]

This game and Gunstar Heroes were both developed by Treasure, same folks who did Ikaruga and Radiant Silvergun [IMG]

I'd love to see a sequel to Guardian Heroes too, I know there was a version of it on the DS (or gameboy advance?) but it wasn't too good from what I hear.

It was on the GBA... It was okay, the slowdown was the only real issue I encountered with it.. I do miss playing the original for the Saturn though...

On a sidebar, I want Burning Rangers to make a comeback... That game came out at the wrong time and it deserved better imo...

There is no better way than this describe today's Sega. Talk - Action = Nothing
