   The Freeze FAQ version 1.0
   By the Internet Kage

Note : The following information is only useful and applicable for CPU
game only ! Do not, I repeat, do not attempt any of these gltiches
during a versus game because it does not work !

For the more experienced VF3 players, terms like the Kage Warp or the
infinite pounce ( Lion ) will come as nothing new. For the benefit of
the doubt, the above 2 terms mentioned are glitches in the game ( as
compared to the Senbon grind, okizeme in VF2 ) caused by unforseen
   programming logistic algorithm errors.

FYI, the Kage warp, like the name suggests, allows the Kage player to
"freeze" the opponent ( be it human or CPU ) during a TFT ( FAQs have
it that a TFT is not neccesary, but any character with P K G ( cancel
) is eligible for the warp ), after which the opponent is unable to
move totally and henced vulnerable to punishment or more often,
humuliation ( yeah, like stupid combos or moves been executed on them.
) This glitch is condemned in the VF community ! Any decent player
with VF ethics should refrain form using it at all. However, if u
still want to use it just for pure enjoyment in CPU play or just to
impress some amateurs, a FAQ on the Kage Warp is available at Ripo's
   Arcade Site.

With that, let's enter the main subject. I have briefly touched on the
kage Warp because it, in a sense, is similar to the glitch that I'm
about to explain. The main issue started one day when I was at a local
arcade playing VF3 and saw something wierd on the arcade machine. The
person playing, who happened to be one of those kids that hang out at
the arcade everyday, was sidestepping his Jacky around Dural who,
apparently, was "freezed" and not moving at all. This immediately
struck me as kinda wierd because Dural happened to be the fastest and
most aggressive opponent in the game, and yet she was stuck dump here
while the Jacky executed a rear throw which bought her senses back
after she recovered. How did the kid turn Dural into a vegetable ?
Imagine the combos and moves that one can practice on the CPU
character while it stays put ! I quickly realized that a trick was
involved here, and while half-heartedly playing my Akira on the
adjacent machine continued to watch the kid play. He has sinced
finished the current game and started on a new one. His choice of
character - Jacky again. Is Jacky the only character capable of doing
this trick ? It was soon apparent after watching the kid play that a
particular move triggered the CPU into the "freeze" state, which I
will explain below. But before I continue, I must again stress that
this glitch is only applicable to CPU play, and hence different from
   the Kage Warp.

This glitch, I should say, is pretty useful when you want to practice
a particular combo or throw that you just can't seem to get it going,
or some throws ( eg rear throws ) that are usually not easily executed
due to the absence of chance.

Till now, I have found out that freezing is possible for 9 characters
except Wolf, Shun and Lion. I am still experimenting, and I believe
that Shun is also capable. You might want to try it out for the
remaining 2 characters after reading this FAQ and if there IS a way,
do email and I will publish it here, with the credits to you. This
glitch works for both the new and old versions, so you can safely
   practice it.

This, is how it is done. Listen closely !

   1) The basic idea behind the "freeze" is to force the CPU character
into a crouching position ( except for Akira and Pai ), whereby after
which it will cease to attack completely and stay stationary. The
computer AI is programmed to crouch down the opponents for some upper
level attacks rather than stand and block.

   2) While freezed, it will however, still block if a attack is
attempted, after which it will no longer be freezed but revert to its
   normal state.

   3) Throws are therefore more applicable, unless the attack is
delivered from the back, which will hit, guarding notwithstanding. (
   Obviously ! )

   4) Basically, except moving and attacking, the CPU still behaves
completely the same, eg, block incoming attacks, try to escape throws
( percentage of success increases as stage advances. eg a 7th stage
CPU character will be attempt to escape throws more frequently than a
   3th stage character. )

Let's start with an example for Jacky. His freeze move is either the
   combo punch, punch, elbow, kick ( P, P, f+P, K ) or simply the last 2
components ( f+P, K ). The CPU character will usually start to crouch
down when it comes to the elbow attack, after which it will be
freezed. Tana ! You just did yas first freeze ! Not as complicated as
the Kage Warp, but still pretty cool neverthelss rite ? Bear in mind
that the CPU needs to crouch in order to get freezed; if it stands and
block the entire combo it wouldn't be stoned !

The freeze moves for all the nine characters are listed below with
   some relevant notes.

                                 Character

                                Freeze move

                                  Remarks

   Jacky P, P, f+P,K or ( f+P,K ) CPU needs to crouch.
   Lau d/f+K, f+P ( 2/3 combo ) CPU needs to crouch.
Sarah d/f+K, d/f+K ( 2/3 triple illusion kick ) CPU needs to crouch.
Aoi f,f+K, K CPU needs to crouch.
Jeffry b+K, P CPU needs to crouch.
Kage f+P+K, P+K CPU needs to crouch. This is not the Kage Warp !
   Taka-arashi f,f+P, P CPU needs to crouch.
Akira f,f+K, K CPU needs to stand guard.
Pai u/f+K, K ( The flying swallow kick ) CPU needs to stand guard .

If there are any areas where you do not understand or if need
clarification, do email me. Or if you have found out the freeze move
for Wolf, Lion or Shun, either mail it to me or send it on the
   submissions area.
