Was Shun Di the first character to start the trend of a character inspired by the drunken master movies or were other games first? I saw him in KOF2002 and was told it was in Tekken, but I haven't been folllowing them.

So, which character was first to be inspired by Jacky Chans drunken master duology?

Shun Di was introduced in Virtua Fighter 2 before Lei Wulong was in Tekken 2, so I would say Shun is the first drunken master-inspired fighting game character.

I think Chin from KoF might have been around before Shun, though Shun was the first to emulate what we saw in Drunken Master properly imo.

Yes, it was Chin Gentsai from KOF 94'. He debuted 3 months before Shun Di.

Just watched the movies while knowing a few Shun combos. So fun to see moves from the game in the movie.

Another great film on the subject is True Legend, or "Beggar Su." There's an old sage who appears with the God of Wushu who bears a striking resemblance in aesthetics and behaviour to Shun.

Many of Shun's moves come from drunken master 2. The flying, spinning headbutt for example. It think Lee or Hworang are based off the dude he fights in the steel mill; actually that guy goes into flamingo stance during the fight.

...and when AM2 kept adding new moves for Shun for each new VF series they kept going back to the same movie to get them. =)

Hey, nothing wrong with that. It's a great flick.

Man, I saw this movie for the first time earlier this week. The final fight between Su Can (Vincent Zhao) and his brother-in-law Yuan (Andy On) was truly spectacular. Great flick all around.
