This is the first Virtua Fighter game I've played and one of the first fighting games I've ever owned. I'm having trouble with Lau Chan and the move Fukko Sougeki, I'm supposed to hold the down button and then left, right, punch, but I can't seem to nail this move. I don't really understand it, am I doing this move wrong?

What you wanna do is "buffer" something an input that leaves you crouching, and then WHILE RISING input left, right punch. Try down punch, and then left, right punch immediately afterwards.
(I have a bad feeling there aren't any typos in the Topic.)

Oh, sorry about the typo, I'll fix it. Thanks for the help, I know how to do these kind of moves now. Theres another thing I don't undestand yet, In the move Kousokuhi Ko'enshou, it say's p+k(during defensive move), what do they mean by during defensive move? Sorry, I've never been much a fighting game fan so theres a lot I don't know about them.

All of the basic stuff is right here.

In part 1, under movement, you'll find an explanation of defensive movement. What you are looking for the the defensive movement attack, which is executed by hitting up/down and then p+k afterwards. Lots of other good stuff there too.

Yeah if your struggling with stuff like that, it's best to check the system and glossary sections up on the top left there. If that fails, ask /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

I'm new to this site. I play a lot of different fighting games. I love VF5 and it is quickly becoming my main game. I also love Alpha 3, ST and CVS2. I dabble in Arcana Heart, KOF XI and NGBC but do not have the comp to hlep me get better around here.

    Hiya!

Hey guys, I'm new here and to Virtua Fighter, but I've played a lot of fighters, my main ones so far being Third Strike and HD Remix, but I'm starting to really like VF5. I was reading a lot about the different characters but I'm having a difficult time selecting one. Is there any character that has good reversals, or is such a strategy not really valid in VF5? I'd like to be able to read what my opponent is going to and do counter it efficiently. So far I think Goh is a good choice but I'm not sure. Nice site here, I've found a lot of good info!

    Thanks!

Yeah, I'm another new guy. I play a lot of other fighters, 2d and 3d alike, and I've messed around with VF a bit. I never really got good at it though, so I'm hoping to step up my game through reading strategies here and maybe finding some friends on Live.

I'm a new old guy, I guess (see the registration date, lol)? I was around when the ACPC stuff was going on and ice-9 was JeffMaru. Nycat sent me a tape of some VF3 tournament stuff in late 1998 or early 1999 (my first exposure to what Virtua Fighter actually looked like). I've owned every Virtua Fighter from VF3TB up until now. I never could really get into the game (which I always knew to be superior despite my inability to play it at the time) until I got so fed up with nonsense in Namco fighters and dove headlong into VF4 Evo (after having some online conversations with Chanchai). The speed, physics, throw game, evasion, movement and so much more are HEAVENLY. I made a brief detour for Soul Calibur IV, but that's pretty much trash too.

I'm now kicking myself, feeling like I've been wasting my fighting game life not playing the series more seriously. Better late than never?

I'm new to VF, and VF5. I suck bad but want to learn this game. I'm a high level UMK3 player, and I'm decent at 3rd Strike. All I need to do is get comfortable with the games mechanics, and it's smooth sailing from their.

Yo RedJustice - just caught your post here! Nice games we've had in the past and looking forward to a few more.

OJuggernautO - I initially came from a 2D fighter background prior to starting into VF (back in the days when VF2 came out) - it took me a while to adapt, but it will probably be faster for you. Don't forget that there's a guard button (seriously, I lost a bunch of games initially because I was just walking backwards instead of guarding), and stick with it!

Enjoy the game guys, and treat every loss as a chance to improve. Welcome to the forums (depheenom, you don't count, you're OLD SKOOL!!)

Hey all! New board guy here, although I've been playing VF on and off since the original. VF5 on XBL has thoroughly renewed my interest in the series, I've been having a lot of fun online (and getting my butt kicked in the process!).

Hope to catch up with some of you on XBL, and I'm sure I'll be back here browsing for Wolf strats and hopefully joining the discussions in the near future.

    Hello,

I've always been into fighting games ever since Street Fighter II. Tekken has always been my favorite of them all; that is, until I discovered VF5. I didn't think this game was deep given the controls, but after looking at this site, and reading a few things, I'm starting to change my mind.

So yeah, hopefully I can get to grips with this game and at the same time, have some fun.

Always up for a chat. I'm on Xbox so for now, you XBL heads have another person to beat around.

That is, until I get better.
