Why hello there! Chill (I also go by Smile&Laugh) here, and I am ready to take on the VF community full force! Back when I owned a PS2 I used to play the hell out of VF4 (middle school memories) as a Kage player, and I just picked up VF5FS today on XBLA, and I am loving it! I am not entirely sure who I am going to play, and because of the seemingly slow tournament scene I may never be fortunate enough to play in a VF5 tournament (maybe I will host some online tourneys), but I have been lurking the forums the past couple days, and you all seemed awesome enough to welcome me in regardless!

I have no idea who I am going to main in this game. Usually in my fighters I like to pick the goofy/dance characters (Eddy Gordo in Tekken, Balrog and Yang in SF4 etc.) but since there are no dance characters and there is no legitimate goofy character I will probably end up going to the Sumo (Sumos are silly right?) Taka!

Some other fighters I play are (in order of activity) Smash Brothers (64 and Brawl), Playstation All-Stars, Street Fighter IV and Soul Calibur V!

But enough of me blabbering. If you have any questions, lay them on me!

Greetings. I just bought VF5 a few nights ago and have been playing on PSN. I've been using Brad and Jean. I grew up with fighting games, but always cheated vs CPU and have never really played against human opponents. It's been quite a learning experience!

Welcome to VF Live, hope you really enjoy the game and find others to jam with! You might want to give a rough location and time-zone for play, so other XBL players can invite you into rooms, as you simply won't find much action in ranked these days, except maybe weekend evenings.

Goofy dancing? You might like young Eileen, especially with some of her special poses where she climbs her bo-staff etc. :)

Welcome to vfdc! If you like characters with irregular movements, then Shun might be a possible character for you?

Yep, it'll be a good idea to post your details on one of the other threads so other players can get an idea of your availability.

Hey, welcome to VFDC. We got everything you need and much more. Pai~Chun's comment is very helpful. If you could give us your location and Time Zone, you'll be able to find people on Xbox Live wherever you are. I hope we get to play each other sometime.

So Julius... I've seen your YouTube video where you're claiming to be the best Zack. You know the one where it doesn't prove anything? Ya... In fact, I have top comment on there. Just tread carefully and mean what you say, if you can't back it up then don't speak up...

  9. I'm new to fighting games in general, not just Virtua Fighter. I actually started putting real time into fighting games last year, bought a couple games and my first arcade stick.

After trying out darn near every modern game the genre has to offer, I found Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown and got hooked. It probably doesn't mean much coming from a total newbie but I honestly think it's the best fighting game I've played so far, and I want to get better at it. It's kinda tough when the online is bare. So I've been trying to step out of my comfort zone and find some local tournaments here in the midwest United States.

Enough of my life story though! Gamertag on Xbox Live is the same as my username (Perfidious Sinn), and I play Vanessa.

Welcome bro. Make sure to go in your profile and set your gamertag. Most of the players on here who liek yourself decided to dedicate time to really improving in this game typically place in room matches as well as player matches. One person in particular who often hosts room matches on xbl is Evenpit. Heres the thread: http://virtuafighter.com/threads/evenpits-beginners-rooms.17395/

Make sure to bring your mic!

I am a very keen VF player though I do not presently have access to a console to play VF5 on or purchase VF5FS. My favourite character is Pai; I have attained Master Rank on VF5 Quest (though only held that rank briefly alas), I love stringing together fast combos with her and mixing in attacks with retreating cartwheels. My other favoured choices are Aoi (brilliant for slow-paced, defensive tactics...for me, anyhow, Lau Chan (the first character I honed on VF2), and Eileen for sheer fun.
I loved Virtua Fighter 2 on the Saturn, but VF3 turned me off. I never played VF4 (no PS2), but finally returned to the series with VF5. It took me a few plays but I was soon hooked again.
I am really feeling itchy to get into VF again.

    Greetings & Salutations!

New scrub from NE USA, EST (i.e., east coast.) At the moment, I'm interested in playing VF2 (yes, two) rather than 5. I bought VF5FS+DLC, and it looks great and all, but I'm going to be sticking with VF2 for awhile. Possibly because it's less intimidating, although it's still a beautiful game. So if you'd like to play some VF2, drop me a line and I'll be glad to send you a f-r. My XBL GT is "RudeJohn" (sans quotes, of course.)

When I say "scrub", I mean scrub. I am absolutely new to fighting games, having mostly played fps's, action adventures, rpg's, and a few racing games until now. The fighting game genre drew my attention because I'm feeling burned out on everything else. Time for a complete switch-up to a new gaming style. The Virtua series drew my attention because of its pure hand-to-hand toe-to-toe style of combat. Good stuff.

Hope someone out there is still interested in playing a classic.

    Just,
    RJ

Best bet is too make a thread in the XBL or PSN forums if there isn't one already, for VF2. It's an awesome game but you'll come across some cheap shit in that game that'll make you go "WHOA!"

    Welcome to the boards!

I'm exactly like you when it comes to preference for the unorthodox characters -- you may want to try out characters such as Shun, Eileen, and El Blaze -- they have very unique movesets that let them sort of dance around the ring, if that's your playstyle. Shun and Blaze are my mains, so if you decide to pick one of them up, let me know!
