At the semi-finals of the 4th World Fighting Tournament, Akira stepped into the arena ready to face his opponent, Kage-Maru. As the match wore on he found himself outclassed, and finally went on to lose the match to be eliminated from the tournament. Failing to make his mark in the 3rd and 4th tournaments successively, Akira began to question how effective his training had been.

One day, while in the mountains, something caught his eye as he was gazing at a clear stream. It was a leaf floating downstream. His eyes followed the leaf as it turned on the current, swirling around the rocks in the stream. Akira noted how the leaf didn’t resist the flow of the stream, it seemed to turn to the will of the current.

Inspired by what he saw, Akira resumed training that very day. As he trained to refine his techniques, an invitation to the 5th World Fighting Tournament arrived. He felt certain that in his current shape he would be more than a match for Kage-Maru. In order to put the results of his training to the test, Akira entered the tournament.
